# About me
Artists' bios are usually written by the artist in the third person. I find this custom strange, so I'll write this in the first person.I grew up in Victoria and took numerous art classes as a child and adult. I've worked in oils, pastels, watercolour, wood, clay and pencil, but my real passion is what I like to call Photo Based Art. Art that is created by compositing various photographs that tie aspects of our human environment and experiences into a homogeneous union with nature. Digital photography has allowed me to take an old art form and create a new world, freeing photography from its own finality. My art usually starts in the studio where I work with models to create pictures that I can blend with landscapes.
All my art is sold in small limited editions of 5. It has won several awards, and has sold across Canada and the United States. My work has also been displayed several time at the Sooke Fine Art Show, and the Sidney Fine Art Show.
I have an interest in promoting Photo Based Art and I take pleasure in discovering new artists in this medium and encouraging their development.
I have been a guest speaker at several camera clubs. My presentations are usually on the history of photography and its effect on society.
During the winters I offer 'studio photography workshops'. These are two day events that are geared to photographers with all levels of experience, from those with only a basic understanding, to those who consider themselves advanced. The workshop is limited to 6 students, and we work in a fully equipped studio with professional models.
