# About me

My interest in art began when I was a little girl. I hated the pictures in coloring books and would always ask my mom to draw pictures for me to color, usually horses. Eventually I got tired of having to wait for her and decided I would just draw for myself. Until middle school I almost exclusively drew horses, but began to show an interest in drawing people. My first overtures were terrible. As I rode the bus home from school sometime in sixth grade a girl watched me draw and commented, saying "That doesn't even look like a person." That same week I showed my latest horse drawing to my dad, who asked "What the heck is that." These two comments were extremely upsetting at the time, but my competitive nature kicked in and I was empowered with the desire to be the best artist I could be. I'm sure my dad regretted his encouragement and criticism later, when I told him that I wanted to pursue art as a career. I'm still in the process of pushing my art to a professional level, but it is the true love of my life and I have no doubt that this is the direction I want for my life.
