Thanks for the llama!
I took the picture through a crystal ball that I've had lying about the house for years. Just held it up to the window, pointed the camera at it, then shot!
I'm glad you like it.
Your 3D work is amazing! [:

You're welcome!
Do you do it for fun or is it something you do for work?
I'd love to be able to do it, tried a few times when I was younger but I just didn't have enough patience!

Well, it started off as just something for fun, since I always used to download user-made content for games (mostly racer/shooter games) and always wanted to make my own stuff, so I... uh 'bought' the programs I needed and just messed around from there, been doing that for like 5 years now :] Though i've seen people who've been going for barely a year and are better than me, some people are amazing.
Though I aim to be doing it as a proper job later on... doing a Games (mostly 3D and 2D) course at uni, so we'll see what happens after that :]
You should have another go at it, even if you gave up before, maybe this time round you'll find something in it you didn't before. It's great fun to see something gradually evolve into the finished thing (though that can be said for most arty things, but I find it most fun with 3D). I'd gladly try to help out with anything if you're looking to have another go at it, anyway, though there's some super helpful stuff out on the internetz anyway.
(oops, wrote a bit of an essay! cloggin' up yo comments page, fo real)

Maybe I should "buy" the relevant software and give it a second shot
Its one of these things.. I will either get really annoyed at myself and give up or keep going and spend all of my time doing it! I can imagine me loosing an entire weekend to it!
I was planning on doing a games course at uni last year but somehow I ended up moving to Scotland and getting a full time job instead (boo!).
Thank you for the offer of help, I will no doubt take you up on it once I get started
What programme(s) do you use/recommend?
Don't be sorry for clogging it up, a essay is good from time to time, fo sho.

Hah
Well for 3D stuff I use 3ds Max, and 2D (textures and all that) I use Photoshop (still using PS7, when like 5 newer versions have came out since, eep!). I think 3dsMax might have a free trial, maybe the same for Photoshop, though you probably already have Photoshop since most art/photography-savvy people do. So yeah, you don't even have to... 'buy' them straight away *shifty eyes*
I don't blame you if you gave up before, at the start of my course at uni, most people who hadn't tried 3dsMax before wanted to give up or kept complaining about it, but they seemed to be the kind who probably just went 'games, yeah, that'll be an easy course' then got surprised when they realised there was actual work to be done, and making stuff for games isn't as easy as just playing them, haha. Then again most of them had no previous kind of arty background (which suprised me), so you've definitely got a head start already at least :]

Hi!
Sorry about the month and a half delay in replying to this...! I moved outta my place and have now found somewhere new but I am computer-less! Luckily I'm at my sisters just now so I'm taking advantage of the internet whilst I can.
So maybe when I actually have the dosh to buy a PC (I'm just gonna build one from scratch as it turns out at least £150 cheaper, and I will be able to trust it!) I will "buy" 3dsMax and Photoshop very legitimately...!
I was actually gonna go to do a night course at college as I get to do one worth up to £200 for free cause i'm so skint So maybe I should try it there? I was gonna do photography but then I had to sell my camera! So that went down the shitter. It seems like something I MIGHT be good at if I try and I want to be good at it.
x

Hah no worries :]
Yeah building your own PC is always way better/cheaper if you know what you're doing. I only really have half a clue so I just get my brother to do most of the stuff when it comes to messing around with the insides of ye olde computery things!
A little warning though, since games/3D/etc kind of courses are only popping up in the last few years, some places that do them aren't really that in-depth, at least from my experience (I did it at college and it was a waste of time, though mostly due to the place being horribly underfunded and ran by idiots, but that's a whole other can of worms). I learnt more from internet tutorials and messing around with 3dsmax/photoshop than I did at college, but I probably just chose the wrong place.
Boooooo to selling your camera Then again, if you ask me, you don't need to do a photography course, you seem pretty rad at it already :] And I think there's free trials of 3dsmax and Photoshop that're like a month or something, so when you get a nice PC you could probably check those out and see if any of it interests you, maybe :] x

So, 1 year later I log back onto DA
A lot has changed since last year and I figured i'm pretty much to late to do any kind of courses, so the advice has gone to waste hehe.
I've also since re-bought the same camera and lens'! So all is well again Still no nice pc though x
