Doing well. Mostly busy with school that's why I haven't updated my gallery in a some time. All of them are designs for a book I've been working on for a number of years- so most of my art tends to be more technical and conceptual. I've recently started using Photoshop to paint some of my drawings. Still a looong way to go before I get things the way I envision them, but practice makes perfect!
Anyway, I saw your gallery. You've some excellent pencil work! I look forward to seeing more of your art

I'll be 31 this June. Going to college to be a chemical engineer. First graduated with an art degree but nothing came from that so I decided to go back for engineering after a stint in GameStop management. But I do do freelance artwork whenever something comes up... if the money is good

Someone's been busy! I wish I could work more on my art and book. Frankly, I would have more time if I didn't like video games, LOL! But when inspiration hits then all other bets are off... besides my education. I will knock out quite a bit in those situations. Anyway, I'll see if I can scan some other pieces this weekend to upload. If I only had a Cintiq then I wouldn't have to worry about scanning and adjustments... when the big engineering job lands then one will be mine!!!

Well i prefer to do everything on paper or canvas, but i do know how to work on adobe programs.
Scan then! and keep me posted on your projects!
The name's Sky or David, use the one you prefer!
As I said I have a big project coming up, i'm working with some actors. If I come to do full animation not just shorts, i'll need people to assist me!
Cant promise anything, but show me talent and we can work something out.
So that you can have an idea of what I'm talking about:
3 narratives, but not a trilogy. They are connected but also every single one is a complete story.
The format is "bande dessinee" (comic book art) but with a cinematographic feeling to every panel.
80% of the drawings done in a realistic way using full advantage of black outline work and movement, colored with a first layer of watercolors and a second of soft pastels ( see enki bilal, moebius and tekkonkinkreet concept art).
20% classic oil painting, hyper naturalistic by nature but not sterile copying of photographs. (see arnold bocklin and pre raphaelite art)---- These two styles (drawing and painting) must connect organically.
The animations are just short tests of parts of one of the narratives to preview the possibility of turning the project to a hand drawn and painted animated movie.
Take note, i'm just some guy working and day dreaming. True i made some connections to Los Angeles recently but i'm quite alone in this. But then again it only takes one to start anything.
Have a great day

I prefer traditional media myself too. There's no replacement for feeling the paper under your chosen tool! I used to ink my drawings then use watercolor and colored pencils. But when I started developing the world for my book I started leaning towards digital media since water color is often more subdued and I wanted more vivid colors. Though I do have some images in the story that I think will work with watercolor/colored pencils.
Here's a link to one of my previous freelance projects- a T-shirt. Not my favorite work (the layout is just...ugh) but it was what client wanted and he was super excited about it, and that's what counts in the end. That was about five years ago.

I don't have much in terms of full paintings. Most of my stuff is character and mechanical line-art that I like to flesh out in Photoshop sometimes. Lately I've been trying to do scenes and not just concepts, as with my "No Escape" painting (which I'm thinking about starting over with). Many of those digital paintings I've yet to finish because either something has come up or I just keep getting more ideas that I want to get down on paper.
So Sky, you can call me Dallas if you'd like I hope you have a great day too!
