# About me
Pretty much everything in my gallery is based upon MLP:FiM by Lauren Faust, so thank her and the animation team for everything. All the embroidery designs are up on my blog for free download, and can be used for making your own embroidered stuff. The designs may NOT be included in any embroidery collections, or hosted somewhere else without my permission.Ecrater Patch Store or Etsy Store

I do comissions too.

These are the embroidery machines I currently have:
One of these: Brother 6800PRW Cost $350
One of these: Brother PE770 Cost $700
One of these: Brother ULT 2001 Cost $2.8k
One of these: Butterfly B1501B/T Cost $10k with accessories
Machines I used to have:
Brother PE770 Cost $700 (had 4, sold 3 when got 15 needle machine)
Brother SE400 Cost $350 (dropped down flight of stairs. RIP)
Singer CE-250 Cost $625 (crap machine)
Singer XL-550 Cost $1k (crap machine)
Singer XL-400 Cost $800 (crap machine. I'm seeing a pattern)
Janome 9700 cost $2k (good machine but expensive)
Husqvarna Topaz 50 Cost $3.1k (good machine but expensive)
I recommend either the 6800PRW or the SE400 for folks starting out. They are exactly the same besides the model number, stickers and the carry cart that only comes with the 6800PRW. They can do embroidery and regular sewing, and do both very well. I have had more than a dozen different machines by different manufacturers, and I like these the best. DO NOT BUY the Singer machines. They are horrible embroidery machines, and Singer customer service is even worse. Singer used to be totally awesome, I am very disappointed in their new products and service.

Hi! I wanted to first say I love your designs.
I just bought an embroidery machine and it has been a lot of fun so far. I saw above that you said you have some digital designs on your website but I haven't seen any. Are those no longer available? I see the eyes on etsy which I am planning on purchasing, but haven't seen any full pony designs. Thanks!

Thank you Β I actually took the designs down because some people were being poopieheads and selling the stuff they made with the free designs I made without asking, or passing the work off as their own.Β If you are making stuff for your self or to give as gifts, shoot me an email at ethepony@gmail.com with what you are looking for.
If you are looking to resell things you make with the designs (plushies, scarves, hats, clothes, etc), I do have a set of about a hundred eyes and a hundred character's cutie marks here: www.etsy.com/shop/ethepony?sec⦠I do not allow reselling of the actual embroidery files themselves, but for these two sets, you are welcome to sell anything you make.
If you are looking to sell something that needs a design besides eyes or cutie marks, shoot me an email and we can chat about it.Β I'm usually okay with that as long as I understand what's going on with them and you're not looking to directly compete by making patches.Β For example, if you want to embroider Celestia on a towel and sell that at cons or online, I would be totally okay with that.

Howdy! I've got the Embird trial and after spending a good 3 hours designing my own eye piece to stitch out on my Brother embroidery machine...the software won't even let me save the file, let alone export it to my machine.Β
Do you do stitch file commissions? I'd need one pretty soon, and other files as commissions come up...I would do all the artwork for you of course.Β

Sure, just send me the sketches and such you are looking to be turned into a design.Β And yea, that's the kinda ick thing about Embird's free version; you can't save or complie the design :/

hi there, looked around and didn't see it mentioned on your various patch descriptions or journals so I figured I'd ask. do your patches come in morale patch style too? morale patch in case you don't know are patches with backsides that have strong hook and loop velcro on the back that soldiers and the like stick onto their packs and gear as decoration and stuff so they're not permanently sowed onto anything and can be freely changed as they see fit.
also any chance you'd happen to be selling at babscon this year?
thanks for your time.

EthePony In reply to codeyaha [2015-02-07 21:30:10 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately, I will not be at babscon this year.Β I've been asked a lot, so perhaps next year.Β I will be at Ponycon in NYC next weekend though.Β Β Β As for velcro, the patches that are more 'military' styled are available with velcro right from the store (flag patches, shields, unit patches, etc).Β I can also send sheets of velcro for those patches that I don't have available with velcro.Β I order my velcro from a military surplus supplier, so it is quite durable.

Hello E!
May I ask your advice on something? I'm making another attempt at designing embroidery patterns, and just tried sewing a simple design I digitized. Even though I was sure to overlap the colors a bit, I'm finding there's too much pull, which is not only leaving gaps, but also tearing the stabilizer mid-sew (sta.sh/07op0whyqc0) . Is this because I'm making my stitching too dense (I've been using Embird's default of 4.0), or am I not overlapping enough, or what may cause that? Thanks!
π: 0 β©: 1
EthePony In reply to joeyh3 [2014-05-24 02:09:20 +0000 UTC]
Embird 4.0 density is fine.Β That looks like either the stabilizer is not strong enough, the thread tension is too tight or a combination of both.Β In embird, make a column that is 50 wide and sew it.Β On the back, you want to check that the bobbin thread is 1/3rd the width of the column.Β It should be 1/3 color, 1/3 bobbin, 1/3 color.Β If it isn't, adjust the tension of the upper thread until it is.
