# About me

In my life art, whether visual, musical or textual is my foremost means of expression, therapy and communion with a higher level of being. I began making music as a child, inspired by The Beatles and the pop music of the time. While in Chorus Class in elementary school, I was picked to sing a solo version of "Maria" from "West Side Story", giving me an enormous boost of confidence in my vocal abilities and though never making it professionally, I continue to write and record for friends and family and my own sheer enjoyment of it. I've always loved visual art but owe a debt of gratitude to my High School art instructor Mr. Skeets for encouraging me in the area of visual art. I began drawing, then doing watercolours and 'found object sculptures' by the eighties. I bought my first PC in 2001 and a dear friend installed software that allowed me to digitally 'paint'. I instantly fell in love with this form of expression and have been doing it ever since. I tend to wear my influences on my sleeve- Warhol, Dali and Basquiat being the main three. Recently unemployed, it would be nice to make a living on my art. I was born in Washington D.C. and still live but a stone's throw away from there. I'm fairly reclusive and quite eccentric- get to know me and I'll share more juicy personal stuff like that with you!

Dreamer, Prince of Neurotics, Rebel, Legend in My Own Mind. Gypsy, Tramp, Thief. I live for art in all its different forms- music, painting, poetry, dance, theater, film. Art is what keeps me going, especially on those days when depression drags me to its lower depths. I've been a working class hero since my teens and I'm tired of it. My dream is to live off my artwork. I've been creating computer assisted art since 2001 and writing, performing and producing music since the late 70's as Jay Thing.
