Hey, Brendan! I was wondering, do you know how to make wootz steel, by chance? I'd love to commision a wootz/damascus sword from you in the future!Β

Hi. No I don't do that kind of work sorry. I usually use foundry steel. Though I have a colleague who does pattern welded steel who could make a blade blank for us.Β
Thanks
Brendan

I love your style when it comes to swords
They're not too fancy (I don't like that on blades and the like), but got exactly the perfect amount (for me) of being not too simple either. Imma watch you, if that's okay
I love finding new smiths as I am kinda picky about weapons.

I've had a interest in swords since I was 14. And recently I have thought about learning swordsmithing.
But the only thing is I don't know of anyone or anyplace that teaches such a craft. May I ask you how you learned swordsmithing. I would like to learn to do it but I also want to know if it is something I truly want to do.

I simply read as much relevant info as I could find on the web (of which there are tonnes) and started making things in my workshop. I asked questions on forums when I wasn't sure. But generally it's all been discussed before and is there for the searching. I can only draw the conclusion that if you "truly wanted to do it" you'd already be doing something about it. Be it studying online or getting hold of books, purchasing equipment, finding a place you can work, trying some projects. No ones going to do it for you or hold your hand. Bladesmiths are few and far between so there's generally no formal tuition available, unless you live by a workshop that you can beg to be shown some stuff. You just study and practice.Β

And I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful work in the future.
I would still like to comission you someday. (After I design my sword...and find a new job again.)

I went to your site. I really like your work and I plan to look some more...
But damn!
That fancy white cursive font on a dark background kills my eyes. I could read a single testimonial all the way through.
You could at least offer an alternate plain font for us older folk who need specs to read.

I have a couple of questions....
- Do you work in Stainless steel or High carbon?
-Do you design as well as make?
-Do you have an Etsy?
-Do you take custom orders?
Asking for myself as well as a few friends ^^. Thank you!
