I noticed right after I sent that comment, thanks so much ^^ you're so sweet

So I've talked about it before but it was a real long time ago now. Basically a forum adventure is like a text adventure, where you you're in a command like ">talk to that old guy" and then the author writes the responce. Well I wanted to basically play kotor, but delve deeper into some interections and veer off course. For example my abandoned one we started out as an engineer going to repair the guns as a start instead of trask coming in. We were told instead to head to the bridge. Another planned detour was to stealthily get to the doctor right after you wake up on Taris to make sure you don't have a concussion and this could shoot straight.

As for carth, well I was rewatching his dialogue and I have to admit as much as I like him He was not written well. So while redoing kotor I was thinking of ways to make it not so poorly paced and whiny as a lot of people say. Now I think I found the crux of the problem. I think people complaining about him being whiny is describing the top layer of what is wrong with his character. I think he is disliked by about half the fandom because of how he always framed in the right, even when he really is doing wrong.

There are 2 points were he is wrong and it isn't addressed by character, nor the game's framing itself. Those are 1) his revenge and 2) he is always the victim 3) he abandons romanced revan because of his own issues.

1) His Revenge: now I know it is a little bit brought up when on the Leviathan but the game doesn't explicitly punish him for continuing with the bad behavior. In the end he still rides his high horse even though he sunk to Saul's level when killing him out of revenge. He was right because Saul sinned first essentially. And carth never says it was wrong but merely it didn't work. His life is empty and purposeless without Revan. Framing it that way is a sort of have your cake and eating it too. After he committed it he was never punished, no one called him out on it and he never admitted it was wrong, but merely unfullfilling and miseading.

So to correct this I think karma should kick his fucking ass until he makes up to Revan and admits the wrong doing. This take also is more in line with kotor 2's philosophy and is just generally cooler

2) Always the victim: actually 2nd and 3rd point can be mashed together under this banner. I don't think Carth really stops being a victim. There is no real big moment where he stops feeling sorry for himself. A lot of his love confession at the end is framed for his own need to have a purpose instead of really owning his part in what went wrong in his life and suck it up. Worst of all where he is the victim is the reveal when he is romanced. He still puts his trust problems (i.e. still being ruled by Saul even after death) over the trouble his lover is in. It he truly was the selfless one he could have set aside somewhat of the reveal to simply comfort his friend whom had already proven herself 2 to be loyal (in the tourcher chamber and when facing Malak). Then when he's done thinking and ready to talk, he still talks like it was benevolent of him to forgive you because you can't possibly be this thing.

I would have him break down and apologize for being absent and rather selfish. I mean I always had a problem with this part. He ducked up, yet the game framed him as being justified when really it was a shifty selfish thing to do

Anyway those are some thoughts, what do you think?

Yeah, that seems pretty dang cool. It seems like they're going to keep the sound bytes from the original and revamp/add more things... heeeeeee... so maybe Carth's story will have more juice to it?

and OMG you have a very well written argument about Carth. I have to agree with you because you pointed out what was good about him as well as certain flaws that could be done better!!
so omgggg... finishing Carth's story would be AWESOME.
KotOR opened so many doors for Star Wars, and i'm so happy with Bioware for taking it (I know Ryu complains about Bioware all the time, but at the same time I also know she likes them because DUH DRAGON AGE) So yeah!
WHY NOT add some juicy story to Carth's character?
If you think about it, Dragon Age Origins had more complete characters than KotOR... like whhhh.... they came out at the same time right?

It was a season 5 episode where Tom and that other character I can't remember take Ben out RIGHT AFTER he was dumped (because he was dumped) and the whole day is called "Treat Yo'self!"
