What are your favorite art tools?

Favorite tool, definitely pencil and ink, but if I had to choose between the two, pencil.
Nothing in particular. I'm not good at drawing hands, but "hate" would be too strong of a word.
Constructive criticism from my friends.
Cartoons from my childhood.
Depends on how detailed is the character. If the character is less detailed, than highly detailed background is the way to go, and vice versa.
