I need help. I am trying to make a border in an oval shape. But I want the line to go inward from the dashed line. How can I do that?

Hey I have a question. I just figured out how to get sensitivity in gimp for the surface pro two tablet pc. Well the sensitivity only makes the brush fade in and out. How do I get the sensitivity to make the brush get thicker and thinner instead of fading in or out with more pressure? I know there are some setting that make it taper with how fast you move your brush, but I don't want that. I want it to get thicker and thinner depending on how I pick up or put down my pen.Β

I know I posted this somewhere else, but I earnestly not trying to spam. I joined the surface tablet users group and well a couple of them just let this ask go down. Of course it was kind of aΒ differentΒ question, but yeah.Β So kind of posting the same question in a few groups to see who answers. Sorry if that is a little bothering. I've had my tablet for a few months and none of the tutorials online covers what I need it to.Β

It seems like this group is being very neglected.Β  Life has caught up with the original founders and it looks like a few have actually taken themselves off the Founders list.

I don't know if you got an answer to this but here are some links that may help: www.google.com/search?q=gimp+a…

I actually ended up figuring it out. You have to install the wacom drivers. It'll run any wacom like device. Then you got to edit and input device. You enable both the devices drivers you just downloaded.Β

If most of the pic is done in SAI, but effects and edition are done in GIMP it's still acceptable here?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LDS-Jedi In reply to Tsumerai-Kyon [2011-11-28 00:56:32 +0000 UTC]

That's a good question. The GimpDome is for opensource artists yet SAI is not OpenSource.. where Gimp is.

Can you offer a link so I can see the piece in question?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tsumerai-Kyon In reply to LDS-Jedi [2011-11-28 04:50:22 +0000 UTC]

Well I would not say the artwork itself, since just a filter or two (or things like size and crop) but mainly for the character concepts [link] that despite the illustration is done in SAI, but the all the background and it's effects, the text, the edition and the goal of the work (information) are purely done in Gimp since it's much better to do than any other program.

Hey, guys, I've got a problem - I've got Gimp 2.6.11 and when I tried to install GimpPaintStudio I realized that there is NO "tool-options" folder anywhere (in my installed Gimp folder, of course). Ain't that strange?

I have a question!
I use Inkscape for lineart and GIMP for everything else. Does that count? Am I in? P:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LDS-Jedi In reply to Slugjie [2011-10-14 19:45:59 +0000 UTC]

I do that as well, although you can get some neat FX colouring in inkscape as well using gimp to create the lineart.

Let's see some of your work.

Well some of the group use GIMP because don't know how to use photoshop, but a lot of people here are pro levels and use GIMP because they like, so I ask for your help in this momment of need X.X
I hate photoshop so much as it hates me, but with gimp it was love at first sight, I use SAI to Color and gimp to do effects such as gaussian blur and to edit images, but i'm training sceneries and stuff right now ( here in my jornal [link] you can find some examples of what i want to do) Does anyone of you knows how to do such effects since i didn't found any filter like this (also i suck at filtes so...)

LDS-Jedi In reply to Tsumerai-Kyon [2011-09-11 23:55:41 +0000 UTC]

Allow me a moment to disagree with one of your statements. You said "some of the group use GIMP because don't know how to use photoshop"... although this may actually be true, it does not reflect the group as a whole. I for one have used PS from Version 1 upto and including CS3. However, I choose to use gimp because I refuse to pay Adobe's insane prices and I do not agree with pirating software.

Also, with OpenSource tools, I can freely give any number of copies to people either students or fellow teammates on a project without worry.

Food for thought.

I don't know if I lauugh or what, you say that it's not the group as a whole, but you haven't even read the WHOLE phrase, I said:
"some of the group use GIMP because don't know how to use photoshop, but a lot of people here are pro levels and use GIMP because they like"
Next time use this moment to read the whole thing, thanks.

I manipulate photos, I don't do photos from scratch (although I really wish I would commit the time to learn.)

Personally, I really like Griatch's works, as well as his tutorials: [link] although I think you should find someone who you want to be influenced by and try to learn from them.

And then practice, practice, and practice some more. after you're done practicing, go out and practice more.
