Hi there! I'm Marc but most call me Shiny or Totodude. I'm not using DA much and am more active on FA. Wanted to hop by and say that it's been a great honor to have our characters to appear in the same submission together. =3

Honestly, seeing your art, I think the honour is more on me.
Thanks! And I hope you still pop on every now and then.

Ah, I'm not better than anybody else. I like to just play around with what seems fun personally and share ideas with others. Sometimes I edit on images and create collages. All sorta things can catch my interest. The fun counts always the most to me and sharing happy experiences with others is not determined by what level the artist thinks they might have in terms of their abilities. =3
My FA username is ShinyTotodude and I mostly just post submissions and journals every now and then.

Oh, it may have started out as art site of the Furry community but there are categories for lots of different subjects outside of it. I switched there back when DA became buggy suring their changes. Sadly, the admins and support mostly just care about selling Core memberships as far as I've made experiences with DA. But good when people seem to be still doing fine at DA. It's definitely good for browsing tutorials and the such.
And appreciated. It gladdens me always to hear that others find joy in the things I do.

There is one and one can additionally set up what submissions get displayed. I personally just ignore the M an A rated stuff myself.

Yeah, I'm OK. I've been too busy to really get much drawing done recently. And whenever I do, I don't make much progress.
I've actually started doing some gaming reviews on a small little website. So that eats into my free time as well.
Thanks for enquiring though, I have been kinda neglecting DA a tad and I want to try and stop that.

Phew, I'm glad to know you're safe and well at least! And I know the feeling, I'm so swamped with work that whenever I get the chance to just relax I'd rather just play stuff and then nothing gets done (though that will change soon hopefully).
You doing game reviews? That sounds awesome!!! Like, gaming journalism? Or just as a hobby? Either way I'd love to give them a read if you toss a link my way!
But yeah! Really stoked to hear from you again man, thanks for getting in touch! :'D

Thanks, it's always nice to get some reassurance from my followers here.
Actual Gaming Journalism! Which is mad, now that I think about it. I'm one of the article writers for a small site called N-Europe. So far, I've done reviews for New Super Mario Bros. U, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and the DLC for the Switch version of Captain Toad. I'll leave the links below.

Whoah! That's freakin sweet! I always figured you'd end up doing something gaming related, so honestly I'm super happy for you!
There's a mode in NSMBU Deluxe that challenges you not to pick up coins? That reminds me of Nicobbq's series where he tries to beat Mario games without collecting them. I'm not well versed in Mario history, so I'm wondering, which came first? Self-imposed coin challenges or bonus modes in the games themselves? If the self-imposed ones came first, it's cool to think that maybe Nintendo put that in because they thought it looked really fun and challenging. Or it could all just be a coincidence, but that's no fun at all! (Oh, and when you say "only the very best players will get gold medals on everything", does that mean you got gold medals on everything? *smirk* )
I really enjoyed reading those! Do you know when you'll be doing another? Either way, I'll be checking back on the site now and then to see what you write next! (So no pressure then!)Β
I can't get over how cool it is that you're a bona fide gaming journo now. Your review style reminds me of the articles in NGamer, back when I used to read it. I always preferred their reviews over ONM because their writing had more personality and was sprinkled with the same sort of wit and sense of humour that I've come to associate with your writing. I can't read reviews that are too sterile and matter-of-fact, so congrats on being funny and interesting! (I know right? Who would have guessed???)
P.S... (pretend I'm whispering because I forgot how to format small letters on here) Do you think you'll be reviewing Yoshi's Crafted World? It's ok if you aren't, but if you were going to, that would be the game I'd give my left arm for you to review. Not that anyone would need or want my arm? But hey, the offer is on the table regardless.

I'm sure someone has done a self-imposed no-coin challenge before the WiiU version of NSMBU, but they did start to become really popular after the WiiU came out, so it's hard to say.
And no, I only managed to get most of the Gold Medals, some of the later ones are really challenging. I should go back and try to change that some time.
Now that I think about it, maybe I should update my journal whenever I write a review. Just in case you're not the only one who'd be curious about them.
I actually got offered the opportunity because the owner of the site liked my writing style back when I was just a member of the forums. There was a kind of Gaming Diary Thread there where people write about the games they played recently and I regularly wrote on there. They had similar praise for it.
I'm afraid we never got a review code for Yoshi's Crafted World, the site is a small one, and we sometimes get overlooked for review copies. It's a shame, I would have put myself forward for that. It's also worth noting that I'm the newest reviewer and the other staff members have some seniority over me. So until I get some more articles under my belt, I'm a bit low on the priority list.
Right now, I'm in charge of asking the forum members to vote for their favourite games from each Nintendo console and writing articles to go with it. So hopefully, that should help get me up there a bit.

That would be pretty cool! If it's a small site, it wouldn't hurt to direct a few more people there by posting journals about it. I need to go sneak a peak at this Gaming Diary too, sounds really interesting!! I'm glad that no matter what site you're on, people have recognised that you have a real talent. I'd say your new position is well-deserved!Β
Ah damn! That sucks to hear! It's one of the games I'm most looking forward to getting when I finally get a Switch. If you end up owning a copy just for personal use, I'll happily hear your thoughts on it informally too, since a review seems to be off the cards for now. And hey, I'm not complaining if you do more articles, and I doubt anyone else would too.
Which consoles have you done so far? I might want to throw my hat into the ring and vote for some games too, sounds fun!

My cousin actually just got Crafted World, so I'll be able to play it soon, I'll let you know what I think in about a week or so.
So far, we've finished the NES and the Game Boy top 10's. We've got a shortlist down for the SNES games and people are sending me their final votes.
Before I link you to the place where you can vote. I should tell you that you'd need to actually sign up as a member first in order to vote. (Don't worry though, it's free)
It might take a few hours for your account to activate, if it takes too long, let me know and I'll tell the higher-ups to look out for you.

The voting has to be done in private messages sent to me, so don't actually post them in the thread. If you struggle to find the option for private messaging, also let me know.

Yes, I do take requests. Within reason. I'm not the most amazing artist. I can't promise I'll be able to draw what you want.
As long as I believe that I could pull it off, I'll give it a shot. And as long as you don't mind waiting a while.
Send me a note with the details.

You're remembering right, that was me. I've gotten a bit better at drawing in the 4 years since Hatena stopped though. Always feels nice to be recognised for my animated works.

That really depends on a lot of things. Subject matter, complexity, stuff like that.
The main thing, however is being whether I'm capable of drawing a good picture out of whatever it is you want. You would not believe the amount of pictures I've scrapped because I just couldn't get it right.
So, go ahead. Tell me what you would like. But be aware, that I am making no promises that I'll be able to do it.

you are supposed to copy the links and remove the spaces.

just copy the whole link and then remove the two spaces between puu . sh
