Hello, there!
I was wondering, if you weren't too busy, if you'd like to enter in a little contest I'm hosting? I saw your art and I thought you'd be able to make something amazing. It's entirely up to you though.
Here's a link:
New Contest: NEW Innocence Character ArtsAaaaaand, we're back!
Okay, so maybe I am a little greedy/impatient/unoriginal. I just remember this idea being a huge success, a lot of artists joined, a lot of people had fun, so I thought, why not do it again? Anyway, I think I've discovered why that contest was such a success; it's probably the simplest contest idea I've ever done. And rightfully so, since there's not really much to it.
For this contest, you would only have to design one or more, if you want, of the members of the cast of Innocence. Both traditional and digital arts are accepted, and the character is your choice. If you would like to do a pairing, however, there are some that are prohibited, since most of the cast is underage, and some characters are of legal age.Β Please don't be gross...

The story is about a boy who lives with 5 younger children and takes care of them, who one day gets into a fight with a group of bullies at his school who turn out to be child m

It's currently in progress, about 6 chapters in.Β We will be posting a draft to Wattpad at some point in the future, around chapter 13-14,Β however we're not sure when that will be.Β We just finished a large project for the magazine Make Mine Indie which took about three weeks to do between copy and graphics π: 0 β©: 1
Thanks for your interest.

Another question relating to the first one! Does it matter if the story is a fanfic or not?! Can it be a fanfic or does the story have to be original?

GoldenPlume In reply to Snowflower--Chan00 [2016-08-07 23:03:17 +0000 UTC]
If you want to get paid, it has to be original.Β If you write fanfic, you will run into copyright laws with your publisher.Β You can write fanfic first and then change all the names later as that is what "Fifty Shades of Grey" did.

Ultimately you should write what you enjoy writing about.Β Wattpad.com allows fan fiction.

Ah nice okay. Well I write fanfics for fun anyway. Can Wattpad protect original works from theft? Is there protection?

Copyright law is such that once you write something in a permanent medium it is automatically copyrighted.Β For example, pencil on paper, or typing in a text document.Β Once you are published in a paid manner, many authors / publishers choose to do additional copyrighting or trademarking.Β For example Harry Potter is trademarked.Β On Wattpad there is copyright verbage put down when you publish, much like when you submit to DeviantArt.Β Your work can still be stolen as Wattpad doesn't enforce copyright.Β That is your job as an author and once you have a publisher then it is their job.

Okay, so how do I as an author, get copyright for my work? Just want my stuff to be protected, although I write fanfics a lot, stuff can get stolen still on here. I want my stuff protected if I pursue Wattpad.Β

As soon as you write in a savable permanent media is it copyrighted.Β If you want to go to much more work:

The probability of your work being stolen is immensely small because if it was stolen and the perpetrators caught the penalties are huge.

Thanks, so according to the first article. They will protect my unfinished work, that I've barely started on from copyright, and all I need to do is pay them the $140? That's a bit pricey for protection, I will pay that later then. I'm hoping this thing won't be per month. Β

We think you may be spending too much time worrying too much about a very small risk (getting your writing stolen) when that energy would be better spent writing.

Hehe! Yeah, and that's what's holding me back from even writing fanfics! So I shouldn't worry then?

Just set up Google Alerts for important phrases of your work if you fear it will be stolen and if you see it pop up anywhere outside of where you are publishing it, you can send a Cease and Desist.Β And this is only for original work.
No one is going to steal your fan fiction because fan fiction is using copyrighted work so it can't be stolen.
If you are fearing someone will steal your fan fiction and sell it, that's like two layers of copyright infringement.Β You infringed on the original content, then someone stole your infringement.
