Help me make an anime pleaseHey everyone. I have a major desire to make an original anime. But I can't do it alone. I'll need help, and lots of it. I suck at art, and while I want to be a writer someday, I suck at writing. I need people to make suggestions on what the world should be like, what kind of creatures live in it, who the main characters should be, what adventures should the characters go through, etc. All I know is that I want it to involve magic, and that the world also has floating islands that people live on, under, and sometimes, inside of them. And that the main character is a quiet male who can use both wind magic and a bō staff. If anyone wants to help, please respond to this journal with ideas and suggestions. Oh, and what the anime will be named will be determined after it gets fleshed out some. Please help.

I just had a brain storm. The anime will be called the City of Outsiders. The place is a bustling city that seems to be a mix of tech, slums, forests, all on a mountain t Please click the link

Hey, have you posted any of your storyboard work from the "Vision Quest" episode of TMNT anywhere?Β  I saw some of Miki Brewster's on Tumblr, but I can't find any of yours from that episode.

Dah, forgot about the campfire one!!!Β  Embarassing, because I'd actually forwarded a link to that blog post a while ago.Β  I'll blame it on being dazzled by the cool shots of them in front of the giant letters earlier in the post.

It looks like Miki did the mountaintop scene with Leo.Β  How did you guys split up the Donnie / Mikey / Raph scenes?Β  All great, but Mikey's scene in the forest was especially eye-catching.Β  Would LOVE to see the boards for that someday.Β  I actually wish that show had been a little longer to allow more time for the build up to their final battles.

Nice work on the arcade stuff too btw.Β  Thanks for posting all of this.

I LOVE Nick's TMNT.Β  Crazy good, in my opinion.Β  While watching I'll often wonder how certain scenes came to look the way they do -- action, character expressions and movement, "camera" angle, overall atmosphere...Β  Seems like storyboard artists would play a key part in all of that, but as a viewer it's hard to know.Β  I wonder things like, who put together Mikey's scene in the forest in Vision Quest? Who decided what that epic battle in Annihilation: Earth! would look like?Β  Who decided to have it start snowing and have steam rising off Leo in The Invasion? Etc etc etc etc.Β  How much of this stuff is the storyboard artists' doing?Β  What's the interaction like between the writers, storyboard artists, animators, visual effects folks, sound folks, and the rest of the team?

It would be so cool to be a fly on the wall while this show is being made.Β  Thanks for your work on it.

director and board artists come up with ideas to improve the script, but most the time its visual improv.

Impressive animation... do you have tips on minimizing line boil effect in your animation?

Like, how to improve lineart precision?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guts-N-Effort In reply to alexandersinnelius [2016-09-16 01:58:25 +0000 UTC]

'flip' between your keys when doing betweens so you track where the line goes as oppose to doing a movement 'straight ahead'

alexandersinnelius In reply to Guts-N-Effort [2016-09-16 07:39:54 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the answer... and how to deal with consistent volume, during rotating scenes and such without using 3d or minimal construction lines??

I simply love your work. It's hard to come by some good 2D Animation and glad I came across yours. I love the Black Dynamite Intro and the show happens to be one of my favourites. I had even created a Blaxploitation style character in one of my early pieces which I was happy to see come to life in the form of Black Dynamite. At the time it was still a concept but I am glad Black Dynamite came along and made it come to life, though I wish it could have been me taking the credit, ha, ha!

Here's the link:Β khotsodube.deviantart.com/art/…
I was also hoping that you check out the rest of my gallery and give any tips if you can as I am also into 2D animation. Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep on practicing. I'd also like to ask what software you use for your animations or which one you'd recommend for someone like trying to better my skill? It would really help if you can give a link as well of one of your tutorials on how to work on it.

Hey yo, your animatic and storyboard work for TMNT inspires me man; I've been feeling so gross bout my artwork recently, and i really wanna get better, and the work you did on that show inspires me so much. All I ever wanted to do when seeing the show for the first time (and every subsequent episode after) was see the storyboard work, because I /knew/ it had to be phenomenal... And it was. Is there any more I can see of the work you did on the show? I've seen some of Miki and Sheldon's work too, and I gotta tell you y'all are extraordinary; truly it's taken place in my heart as some of my favourite animation/animatic/storyboard work to date. But yeah, sorry to ramble on, hope you're having a good day yo

you're so welcome! oh man they have DA? i'd love to! d'you know what their usernames are? oh god yeah absolutely, steve's art is gorgeous, i've been kinda trawling thru all your guy's stuff today and getting really/excited happy and adoring everything i see... hey, hey no please don't say that bout yourself, really; seeing your art and seeing your storyboards made me really happy today, like seriously. your art truly is excellent, and even if you're not where you wanna be right now with it, you're still making so many people happy with what you do. well, me at least; so like... yeah. you really have a fantastic art style, and really, looking through a lot of your work and seeing what i have, you've become one of my artistic inspirations. but thank you, really, for doing what you do. it's a tiresome, thankless job i know, but i just wanna let you know that your hard work doesn't go unnoticed... coz hey, like i said, seeing the finalised CGI animation made me wanna see the storyboards/animatics the most, and that lead me to your work which, by the way, IS absolutely fantastic. even if it's just like a line or a sketch, it's still work towards a final product which is pretty freakin fantastic... so yeah, thank you. you're really great.
