Honestly, people need to relax a bit. they didn't know that you need to ask the artist about it first rather than just credit them, so they know now. there is no reason it should be forgiven, but we need to make sure people know about it rather than freak out. if they fix their behavior and ask for permission to recolor an artwork then it is ok as long as they credit and have permission. there is no reason to bully and torment someone for something they either didn't know or didn't think about.

Okay, now, you should all stop it. I am one of the owners of an image that was drawn over by her, but i'm not going to bully her.
Just get over it. True , an art thief never learns, but you guys too by bullying her. It has gotten too much. She and anyone who was bullying her did wrong, so practically both parties are to blame. I am too, for not putting a watermark on my art.
Although, just cause i said this, doesn't mean I'm forgiving her. I just think cyber bullying is wrong just as much as i think recoloring over other's people art without their permission is wrong.
I expected a note, or just a comment saying she's sorry , guess i won't get either.

I agree, art theft isnt very forgivable, but bullying someone over it is wrong, being polite instead of all the rude and hurtful comments would have been enough, im sure.

where I live art theft is illegal, and can put you in jail.
Drawing over someones art is ok as long as you get the owners permission and credit them.
But just drawing over it and calling it your own is NOT ok.
I'm not trying to be rude but honestly think about what you do.

OK listen here I am not and art thief. I credited the people and you have no right to cell me that. I am sick and tired of everybody yelling at me just because I did something. I credited the people who made the art or the bases, OK I learned from my mistake yes I made a mistake but don't start calling me an artsy and trying to take my profile down. Drawing over someone else's artwork is theft. Also, not crediting the creators of a base is extremely rude. And saying you found it on google is absolutely no excuse either. You could take the few minutes to find and credit the creator; it's not that hard if you search up bases on deviantArt instead of google. You should really go through and credit all of the base makers and delete any of the art theft.

Ok first things first I wanna make this clear.
Here on DA we have a thing known as a search bar just like Google has and you can look up bases, and it will be by the person who made them. Then you can put a link or name in the description of who made the original.
Public Domain: the state of belonging or being available to the public as a whole, and therefore not subject to copyright.
So no, not all bases are Public domain, some you have to pay for to use it, but not all are like that. The free ones though do have rules that the base makers would like people to follow, because many bases are made from scratch and aren’t traced over, so for that hard work they ask that people who would like to use it to credit them for making it, since they took their time out of their life to make something.
Fan art on the other hand is in no way shape or FORM PUBLIC DOMAIN. Unless the artist who made it says that it can be used in anyway and they don’t care how it is used. Other than that if it is used without permission then it is art theft and there for you are breaking DA’s rules. Unless you have written PROOF from the original creator to use the fan art then you can, if not they can report you for art theft which is what is happening.

With this art work Leo/Loki X Hokulani the original was a PAID COMMISSION, meaning someone else paid their own money to get the artist to draw it, so it is majorly breaking DA rules. Plus is it very disrespectful to both the commissioner and artist to do that.
You want to know why you’re being called out and people are telling you it’s bad?
We DA as a community HATE art thieves and people who don’t credit and we get together as a community to stop these kind of people.
My only advice I can give you is delete the pictures that you recolored over that are someone else’s and credit the bases you used or leave DA because this isn’t going to stop till you make it stop.
Go ahead and block me if you want to but if you don’t stop and change you will only keep getting reported and eventually banned from DA.

Scribbling over someone else's art and calling it yours is theft and is not OK, you need to stop immediately, even if you can't draw well, people will respect you a lot more if the image is 100% drawn by you
