(Noah's name was originally going to be Oliver, because when I was first coming up with the idea I intended the second baby to be a little girl, and I had picked out the name Olivia because of the whole peace=olive branch connotation. But Oliver didn't stick as well, after I switched it to a boy. At all. I think my inner Alfred vetoed it because there is no good nickname for Oliver. So I picked Noah because A: it's cute and short, so it doesn't need a nickname, and B: similar connotations, with Noah and the Flood (plus added lols because baby Noah was born in the water). /useless trivia)

More useless trivia (Noah, because he was relegated to a tiny little part in the story, has a lot of this): Noah, unlike his brother, has a middle name. Fittingly Alfred, who also has a middle name, gave it to him. So little Noah's name is Noah Chimalus Kirkland. (In the language of the Delaware Native American tribe, Chimalus means Bluebird.)

Essentially, yeah. (That, and Arthur did all of the work bringing them into the world.) For all intents and purposes, Alfred wasn't legally related to Charlie. It was basically because he was lucky if he got to cross the pond to see his son once a year, and because the social mores of the time meant that the idea of Alfred and Arthur having a son together would have made all but the most progressive minds explode.

With Noah, Arthur is on the birth certificate as Noah's father, but Alfred is in Noah's paperwork as a guardian/sponsor type person so that Noah can have dual citizenship, and so that if Noah goes overseas by himself Alfred can be legally responsible for him.

(I love anything that involves Alfred and tiny children in general. He's suuuuuuch a dork. =w

Thanks to widespread commercial airline use (and therefore the trimming of transcontinental time from a matter of days to a matter of hours), Noah will indeed see a lot more of Alfred than Charlie did. Charlie was very Anglocentric, but Noah will be by necessity a far more international child.

(Noah, as of the age of three, can also see ghosts when they want to be seen.)

Lol, definitely not. He has the same respect for them that his parents ingrained in him for the dead, but it doesn't really manifest as fear. It helps that the spirits who would let themselves be seen by a little boy are generally more like Casper than Samara.

Daddy!merica is one of my favourite things in the world. Oh, my god. He's such an adorable doofus with kids. (And babies. I almost *died* writing him cuddling on Baby Noah in chapter 18, good lord.)
