Well,I have been through your entire gallery.
Well,uh except the restricted parts.
But on the happier note,I was glad to go through your writing.
The best ones are those in which you put the subject and revealed it to the reader in a few yet strong sentences.
That is what I really appreciate.
And tell you what, your descriptions of nature about sea, mountains, those are inspiring.
This is what you are best at.
I tell you this,as a reader.
Your words have an effect.Go on let those pictures of rivers and skies form in your reader's minds.
Good day.
And I hope you find your answer.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate you taking the time to look through everything, it's put new perspectives on old works. Just for your kindness, a free verse:
A gust strikes the sand
and the ground blurs with the sky,
as dunes reproach the bold courtship
with whirling dusty dance
all about the bewildered air.

I don't have much in terms of a characteristic style, so I'd avoid judgments on my style based on any particular piece you see. I -am- fairly good at high impact short poems though.

Timing is everything they say. I linked my favorite poem (so far) from your gallery on my page, and I happened to get a DD today. I checked on a whim, and your poem looks like it'll finally get some of the love that I think it deserves. Yay!

Hello Nathaniel!
I really appreciate the fave.
It means the world to me, coming from an
artist as talented as yourself, and I
bow in gratitude for the act of kindness.
I'll be completely honest. I feel that my
poetry stinks, and that I'm not a real
poet, but the purpose of my writings are
not standard art. It's a spiritual art
that started when I achieved a
connection with the Universe and with
the world around me.
A good 90% of the writings that are
posted in my gallery are those which are
wrote during meditation. They lack the
proper grammatical structure common in
most good works of poetry, they often
have invented words, they have no
capitalization and even others have no
form of punctuation, but this is because
I type the poems on here exactly as they
are wrote on the meditation paper during
my evening practice.
I'd love to learn a little more about
you, if you have the time. What inspires
you? Where do you get this inspiration
from? There are a million questions that
I'd love to ask...
Again, thank you for the kind fave. It
means the world to me.

I very much appreciate the praise, but I can't begin to accept your degradation of your poetry. I go with Ginsberg's "first thought, best thought" philosophy and think that the best poetry is that which is spontaneous and free. You're capturing a moment in your life with instant clarity. I think the best poetry is that which is removed from any context of time, it's a moment or event or idea fossilized in amber words.
You have a talent for shocking and unexpected metaphors that I certainly can't match, I'd definitely concentrate on that in your writing. Whatever purpose your art serves, it is your perfect art.
If there's one thing I could recommend for inspiration it's original holy texts from various religions, especially the Buddhist Sutras and the Vedas from India. There's a special clarity in their verse.

I like to call it a "spiritual snapshot"
of sorts, sort of like a photograph of my
soul is posted with every poem I write.
I am a Buddhist, so I have a large collection
of Sutras. I've never read the Vedas. THere
are four books that compose it, am I right?

Indeed. Although the post-Vedic texts might be more interesting. Check out the Mahabharata (The Bhagavad-Gita is always a good starting point for a glimpse of the text, the entire Mahabharata is very long). Hindu concepts and even much of the vocabulary will be very familiar to Buddhism.
I'm personally associated with Kashmir Shaivism.

Inspired by your suggestion, I actually
went out and purchased a copy of the
Bhagavad Gita and the Ramayana...
You're a Saivite hindu? No doubt?
Om Namah Shivaya.

Very nice, what translations did you pick up?
And I'm principally a Saivite, Shiva as Nataraja is the primary focus of my meditations and mindfulness exercises. I draw from a great many faiths, but it's well within the Advaita Hindu tradition to recognize many paths to Brahman.

how did you come across hinduism.
were you born into it, or are you
a convert?

A convert. It started as a passive scholarly interest, and developed into bhakti devotion over time.

I'm on good terms with an Indian family that converted a wing of their hotel into a restaurant. I've managed to get a few peeks into the kitchen and pick up a few tricks. Certainly worth the effort.
