I like to think of it as the opposite: it's a sort of "the kids know better than the adults in this case now don't they?" sort of thing.

It's... it's... hmm. It is hard to explain, I guess. Maybe I like it because it kind of says that adults mistake the purpose fairy tales serve for children. they don't want to know that there are monsters because they know that already; what they want to know is how to defeat them. And when they win the children have a greater victory over the monsters than adults ever have over anything in real life.
