Here's where I'm at now (keep in mind that I don't have a numpad key on my laptop keyboard and when I right click, nothing happens.) and from looking at your tutorial I need to know how to outline the face.

You really need to get a mouse

the first thing you need to do is separate those two images, import the front and side separately, and line them up according to their sides.

import them like you did then rotate and place the way they need (line up the front and side of the face).

After that make a new object (like a cube), add a mirror modifier to it (you can google how to do this, make sure clipping is enabled), and delete everything on the cube except one vertice. Move that vertice to the center of model (so it sticks there), then move it to a starting point (like the nose) and extrude(e).

i'm doing the same, i haven't really drawn much in last two years so i'm trying to get back on daily drawing . I feel like i haven't improved at all and that really bugs me.

I see no reason we can't help each other out.

In my opinion your work is great already, the problem is it seems like you're focusing on illustration, rather than just creating from interpretation or inspiration.

This is how my art history teacher explained it to me, illustration is sticking to specific rules and ideas to create a drawing. Its more about sticking to the rules than being inspired by life. I think this is what the guys on that site are trying to say by referring to your work as anime(which really annoyed me cause its rude).

Illustration is completely fine, but doesn't necessarily allow for improvement, so focus on simply drawing from inspiration. What you learn drawing from inspiration will definitely transfer back to your current kind of work too.

And drawing from life doesn't have to be realistic, but shouldn't be illustration as i described either.

I know, and I know I've to go back to the real life for some things like poses, perspective, etc.

When I draw from inspiration and imagination, my drawings look really good, but, I never finish those because inking them makes the whole thing look artificial.

Yeah, it was rude, but I think they don't have time to see how a girl whimps over her critiqued work without compassion. That's why I chose to just close my heart in that forum and use only the mind.

I'll look cold from now on, but that's what they wanted.

Actually, you helped me a lot, and I'm so grateful you found me here. I would love to talk with you more often (if you want) and improve the both of us at the same time.

That would be an interesting challenge, don't you think?

As for the inking thing, i'm curious what tools you use? perhaps a note would be a better medium . Or steam chat if you have one.
