No prob. I'm currently reading the book, so this gives my quite a funny image of Grendel when I envision him in it.

I think that they don't get enough love, which was my original motivation for making the stamp.

Glad you like them and the stamp too

Good luck to you! Art takes time and practice, and it might seem like you'll never get anywhere when you first start out, but trust me, you always improve. Just gotta keep drawing, sculpting, or painting!

Yeah, thanks for the support. I recently started learning how to draw, so it's gonna be a LOOOONG time before I reach even halfway to your awesome drawing skills. Do you have any suggestions on what I should learn from or should I just keep drawing willy-nilly and hope for the best?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lordzasz In reply to JFlou [2009-06-16 21:56:42 +0000 UTC]

Start with something that you love to draw and draw for fun. BUT, also draw the not fun stuff to improve your skills (ie, still life, landscapes, people... draw from life. This will help you understand how things fit together)

Try to be inspired by a picture and not directly copy it. Understand how a character looks, so you can draw him in any pose.

As for poses, feel free to learn from others. Don't copy, but feel free to make a new character in the same pose as somebody else's.

And, most importantly, always try something new and continue to grow as an artist. Don't get comfortable, keep improving and trying out new things. If you see a picture on DA that you like, try doing what they did, use the same medium, or try the same subject, or just ask the artist for tips. Don't be afraid to experiment.

I hope that helps a little. Good luck!

You're quite welcome!

Oh, I had an idea, in case you were still considering commissions... One possible commission would be a model sheet for a character, that you could then use as a reference when drawing. Or a tutorial. Or maybe even a sculpture, as that way you could see every angle of something and not just front/side.

Oh yes that would be amazing! btw how would 100 sound for Stitch in apprentice garb with some model sheets and drawing tutorials thrown in? I can go up if necessary.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lordzasz In reply to JFlou [2009-06-17 14:30:59 +0000 UTC]

That sounds good to me. We can go up from that, depending on how many model sheets/tutorials you want.

$100 would work great for a large, full detailed sculpture of Stitch in Sorcerer's Apprentice costume, plus full model sheet in flat color (which you want over shaded, as flat will allow you to easily color your own), and simple step-by-step tutorial for drawing stitch and making him in clay (I'll take photos/scans of each step and include tips).

If you want any additional model sheets (ie, Stitch without a costume, anatomy references, poses, or details like his claws or facial expressions) or tutorials we can add them on. Depending on how difficult, I'm thinking $20 - $25 each. Let me know if you want to add on anything else and then send me a note (easier to keep track of commissions that way) and I'll reply with how to pay me.

Just an fyi, since this is a big project, it'll probably take a while to finish, but I'm happy to update you along the way. ^^

Not a problem. I'm patient. It's gonna probably take till the end of the week before I can get the money together, but when I do I'll let you know all that I would like done. Again, thanks a ton!

Quite welcome and thank you! I should be able to treat my girlfriend to a surprise play for that $100. ^^ I know she'll love it. <:3

About all my money these days is spent on bills and my gf, so I figure I should buy something she enjoys with this.

I'm excited, she's coming in 2 days! Glad I'm getting a fair amount of commissions, or taking her around would be mighty painful. I really want to show her to have a great time. :3
