I had a llama once. His name was Kevin, but for reasons I will never understand, he would only answer to Albert. After hours of bittersweet brotherhood, we finally parted ways over the subject of spitting. He seemed to feel as though I should stop and that was just never going to happen. We might have overcome that issue, if it weren't for the overly competitive nature of llamas in general. Endless stench competitions, numerous belching contests, and one afternoon spent figuring out which one was hairier, it became obvious that that Kevin just couldn’t take losing. So he snuck out, taking with him a doomed friendship, a dreadfully optimistic vision for the future, and my bloody toothbrush. Now that he is gone, I can honestly say, it's for the best. He was too much of a chick magnet anyway and who needs that drama?

I know it looks like he had a trim of the old nose bristles but it’s actually a proboscis transplant. Sadly, this poor fellow has become just one more victim of nostril alopecia. A species wide problem for these creatures, one would almost assume that evolution had decided that a nose made of a clump of stiff, coarse hair just wasn’t in the cards for these people. But thanks to the wonders of modern cosmetic surgery, “bald face” is a thing of the past. The beauty of this treatment is that it also provides a practical solution to their genetic predisposition towards excessive butt fur. Huzzah to science!
