La vie est cette râpe qui nous épluche
Peu à peu de nos âges de vie
Une couche à la fois ou plus
Comme l’écorce ivoire d’un bouleau.
L’enfance est emportée diaphane
Dans le vent de l’hiver fantôme.
La jeunesse s’envole en inaperçu,
Hier encore là, puis déjà passée.
Les rides glissent sur notre peau
Où le sable du temps s’écoule.
Notre temps est de ces hier
Qui nous réduisent à un ralenti.
Malgré le cœur un peu plus grand
Le réel se confond à l’irréel :
Pourquoi donc ce moins en moins
Avec tout ce bagage d’un vécu?
Le blizzard emporte les saisons du mitan
En voile de neige et poudrerie aveuglante
Et nous laisse en la pelure mince,
Si mince d’un âge juste un peu plus sage.
Et quand toutes les pelures sont parties,
Il reste cette toute dernière pelure
En transparence s’amincissant
Du grand âge qui finit de nous ronger.
Il restera nos os aux cimetières de l’oubli
Avec le senti des racines d’un bouleau
Dont l’écorce agite sa blanche prière
À ce vent qui nous a tout pris.
Quand notre demain est basculé
En arrière de nos pas plus lents,
La vie râpe et use nos pelures d’âge
Mais peut être restera-t-il notre âme!

The life is this grater which peels us
Little by little of our ages of life
A layer at the same time or more
As ivory bark of a birch.
The childhood is taken away translucent

The youth flies away in unnoticed,

There is this quite last peel
In transparency getting thinner
Of the old age which finishes eating away at us.
There will be our bones in the cemeteries of the forgetting
With the touch of the roots of a birch
Whose bark shakes its white prayer
In this wind which took everything to us.
When our tomorrow is stripped
At the back of our slowest steps,
The life grates and uses our peels of age
But can being he will stay our soul!
