It's very great! I've gotten a new job at a foundry and already it's been spectacular ! So much better than the law firm. There are several car people at this job too which is really nice to have.
Thank you! It was a pretty relaxed birthday. After church my boyfriend and I had lunch, we came home and he worked on his car, then we went out to dinner. c:
I hope that all is going well with you and that your Christmas will be nice. Have a great 2019!

Here is an Evel Knievel bicycle- They also made a ten-speed that looked like the old vintage ten-speeds of that era: caveman1a.deviantart.com/art/E…
Here is the actual U-Tube 1970's TV spot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fVC_w…

Well back then... money for extras was an issue- or the lack of it.
Back then I had (and still have it) a 1968 Schwinn Krate 5-speed bicycle. I bought it used but it was still the coolest bicycle in the neighborhood. Mine is the Green "Pea Picker".
If you get the time Google "Vintage Schwinn Krate Bicycles". That should give you some idea of what I'm talking about.

Sorry, mine must be a 1969 Krate. That was the first year for the green Pea Picker...
It's been awhile since I checked the serial numbers on it.

If you aren't interested in motorcycles- You might be interested in my older galleries.
I used to own Corvettes too and I have some pictures of them in there.

I enjoy motorcycles, I just don't know anything about them really. haha My father and I would ride his Harley every year for Evel Knievel Days here in Montana, but that's the length of my interactions with them.
But I'll check them out! c:

That's Great!
Please post pictures of his motorcycle(s) if it’s ok with him.
My wife and I were in parts of Montana this year for the first time in our lives. We traveled west from the Sturgis South Dakota Rally. We only made it to Big Bear Harley-Davidson Billings, Montana.
I have always wanted to see the Evel Knievel events. Maybe next year.

I will try! I don't live at home anymore, so I might not be able to. It's a 100 year anniversary..Road King? I believe it is. Not super sure, but she's very nice.
Oh that's crazy! I was in Billings for a car meet that same weekend. haha How did you two enjoy Montana? The western area is a lot prettier in my opinion. It's why I live in Missoula. c:
I haven't gone recently so I'm not sure how it is anymore, but it's definitely sad that Evel isn't around anymore.

Caveman1a In reply to KateKannibal [2015-11-23 12:51:24 +0000 UTC]
So if my counting is correct- it is a 2003 Road King?
The R.K. model- It would be hard to say without seeing it because there are MANY sub models of the Road King itself. It's a Very popular line of H-D. The Road King itself is actually a touring motorcycle; Harley-Davidson finally started making them after seeing many customers were buying the Ultra Classic touring motorcycles and then stripping them down to basically a bare motorcycle.
Montana- So that's why we barely got a hotel room at all?
We couldn't figure out why there were SO many people! We thought that the city of Billings must be handing out free money or something?
Montana- Really other than some of Billings, Little Big Horn and the famous hamburger place that I can't remember the name of, we really only saw the sights along route 212. It's pretty to us, but pretty much anything is to us outside of Cincinnati, Ohio area.
I loved Evel. I had ALL the toys. My parents would not buy me the EK bicycle(s) though.
He jumped right over here at the Kings Island Amusement Park. (That is currently about 10 miles away from where we live.) It was one of his last jumps- and he made it.
I wasn't there, but I watched it live on TV!

KateKannibal In reply to Caveman1a [2015-11-24 18:23:31 +0000 UTC]
Yes that is correct. c:
That would make sense. haha We definitely did a few long trips on that bike. It's very comfortable - and the rumble of a Harley can't be beat.
I don't think so. haha The meet was around 400 rides and many of the people live in Billings, but there was another event going on too that would have made finding a hotel room troublesome. I can't remember what it is though! But jobs certainly pay well there seeing as how they have to compete with the oil companies a state over. lol
That doesn't sound like too bad of a trip. c: If you ever make your way back up here, I would recommend going to Glacier Park. It is absolutely gorgeous. And also Flathead Lake, which is about an hour or so away from where I live. And if you like history, we've got a lot of the Native American battles around here. Also, Lewis and Clark Caverns.
I've never even been close to Ohio. :c What is it like over there?
My father and his brother went to school with him and he was apparently a pretty cocky jerk even back then. haha
Were they just normal mountain bikes, or did they have a motor? I bet you could find yourself one on Ebay now! lol
Why didn't you go to it if it was so close? Watching on TV is not as fun as being there in person. haha

Montana- We will be back for sure. My wife retires in a few years and we plan to buy a Tri-Glide Harley-Davidson to tour with. It’s a fully-loaded three-wheeled Harley touring motorcycle. We could pack a lot more items on it and we would not have to worry so much about the weather.
We love history so we are very interested in Lewis and Clark and anything else like that.
Ohio- is a VERY history rich state from every aspect. John Glenn and Neil Armstrong are both from Ohio, along with the Wright brothers and Doris Day, Martin Sheen, Paul Newman, U.S. Grant and many other great Civil War generals. . We have two very large Indian mounds and I believe that the one in Miamisburg is the largest one in the U.S. We also have the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame too.
In the early 1900’s Sharonville (just north of Cincinnati) had a two mile oval board track race track that many famous people raced at. In 1916 Eddie Rickenbacker along with the Chevrolet brothers raced on it. That was several years before Eddie Rickenbacker became a WWI flying ace.
Ohio has no actual mountains, but a lot of the southern parts are hilly and the roads are curvy which makes for great motorcycle riding.
Cincinnati is probably one of the most famous cities the U.S. Back in the day, it had more breweries than any other state or U.S. location.
The seasons are very colorful especially when the trees lose their leaves in the fall. We get snow but not enough for me to buy a snowmobile.
My only real grip about living here is that it is so humid! It’s not uncommon for us to have 60 to 80% humidity for four to five months straight! After a while I feel like my eyeballs are going to rust!
Evel- His jump at Kings Island was Oct 25th of 1975. That was exactly two months before my 11th birthday. I didn’t have much say in going to see it live. My parents hated crowds so that wan not about to happen.
The E.K. bicycles were basically crap, but they were painted cool like his motorcycles. I have some pictures of them in my galleries.
Well about Evel being ”cocky”. It seemed to work for him. Sort of like the Kid Rock song Cocky, “It ain’t bragging if you can back it up!” He could. At my age back then (when he was on top) he could do no wrong in my eyes. I don’t know where he got his self-confidence, but I loved watching it along with still watching his U-Tube videos today.

So I asked my dad what his Harley was and it is a 2003 Electra Glide Ultra Classic.
Oh that sounds like a wonderful time! You plan to do a lot of traveling then once she is retired?
Snap! I didn't know there was so much in Ohio. (I didn't pay much attention in History) Have you been to all of the different historic sites in Ohio yet?
I'm not sure if you guys have a lot of mining history over there or not either, but we also had (it's been taken down mostly) the highest smoke stack in I believe it was the world in Anaconda, we have the Berkley Pit, and loooots of old mining ghost towns to go through. and if you enjoy hiking, if you go far enough around here you can find abandoned mine shafts and stuff.
That sounds like it makes for a lot of fun cruising around and driving in general!
So you have lived in Ohio your whole life?
I bet that makes it hard to keep rust away from anything. I can't imagine having a constant humidity like that. Yuck.
Aww that's too bad. Have you ever had a chance to see him in person then?
I would guess Evel got his self confidence from being born and raised in Butte. That place was a rough and tumble kind of town back then. The stories my dad has are quite fantastic.

Ultra Classic- Oh- OK. That’s what I have but mine is a 2001. I have a few others, but that is my travel motorcycle.
Travel- Yes, That’s the plan-we really enjoy doing it.
Ohio history- I guess it has to do with what you call all the history sites. Lol If you are counting all those history marker signs- there is no way! LOL However, there are A LOT of Indian burial grounds in Ohio and I think that we have covered most of those. If you ever get to Ohio “the must sees” are:
The Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. It’s free and a huge museum with many buildings.
The Miamisburg, Ohio (Mound) Indian burial ground. I don’t think that there is another one larger than that one.
The Ohio Caverns. Close to Urbana, Ohio. It’s a small cave, but very old and very interesting.
The Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
Union Terminal (train station) in Cincinnati, Ohio. If you have ever seen the old Super Friends cartoon show- The “Hall of Justice” is really a drawing of Cincinnati’s Union Terminal.
Annie Oakley’s museum and grave in- and just north of- Greenville, Ohio. She is from Ohio too.
There are many, many more Interesting sights to see, but those are probably the most well known ones.
Ohio is not much to mine but all around us (in surrounding states) the big dollar thing to mine is coal.
Ohio has GREAT two-lane state route roads for cruising. Nice, wide, and (for the most part) very well maintained.
No- I have lived all over the place, but most of the time- I have been in Ohio.
Humidity- Worst part about the state.
EK- Never saw him in real life. I’ve been close to him in proximity several times. Like I said before, my parents hated crowds, so standing in any line for an autograph (or to see a jump) was way out of the question. ..
About ten years ago, EK (and Harley-Davidson) had new numbered Super-Glide motorcycles that Harley-Davidson painted up like his old jump-bike Sportsters –I wanted one very badly. I had dreams of buying one and tracking him down to personally sign it too! Both never happened.
I would love to hear your Dad’s stories!

How many bikes do you own?
And do you have a favorite??
Where do you first plan to travel to?
How long have you and your wife been married? c:
Wow, that's a lot of different places to go. I hope i can get over there someday.
Why didn't you get one of those Harley's?? That would have been a great keepsake!
Well if you're ever over this way, I'm sure I could get us all out for a lunch and he can tell you. He loves telling them. lol
