Hey
well.. as you know, quite some time has passed since I told you about the whole Australia idea... As it turns out the costs would be even bigger than we had been informed of in the beginning... so as it looks now, we will not be able to go (My friend and I were planning on going together). The cost would be around 20 000 € (borrowed from a swedish bank for students) to pay the admission and part of the accomodation... and then we would need another 6 000 € from our own pockets to pay the rest of the accomodation.
so all toghether we would land around 26 000 € counting admission, accomodation and food... I don't have that kind of money And I am not willing at this moment to take a 20 000 € loan
So for now I will stay here... in cold sweden... But I have always been interested in going to australia, so maybe I will try to get down there next year when I have finished my studies, to work for a year or so. I'll be sure to notify you then
Haha, no, you never told me about the farm Tell me more!
So where do you live then?
And by the way... do you have a regular e-mail or something? I think this dA-chat thing is a bit annoying
Hugs

What, 26grand? yes, its really alot.. whow, for that money you already can afford a big van.. I think u decided right. U should finish your last study year and and start to explore in the next. dont worry, australia wont run away .... well, i guess
or just trip for some shorter time. like 3 months or even less just for some normal vacation. Doesnt matter how long youll stay, its for sure worth it. trust me

som farm stories? haha ok
you know after high school in germany i came here just for a foreign year, right?! so this was my first job and i worked there for 3 months. after i arrived in AU i stayed two weeks in sydney just like a normal vacationer then i flight up to Atherton, its in queensland, north-eastern coast, where my host family got their farm. they own so much land, honestly you cant imagine. their big wide fields! only need to see that and you start to realize how big world really is. and just for crops .. u know.. korn, wheat, oat, peanuts and things.. they had almost everything there.. very good for me haha.
my host father, names ethan woodcock, the typical australian farmer how you maybe imagine it from movies, a very grand guy also his family, very open hearted and wonderful people. And Ethan teached me how to drive a tractor. i tell ya.. u can feel so manly driving a 160 PS ride, mwuaaha .. thats so much fun. he he
In Atherton i also got together with my first australian girlfriend, she worked in the city in a baker's. she lived like 18 miles away from my place. sometimes it took me 3h to get home after we met. i always came late at night.. and got up late for work, but my host father took it all as easy ..

now i live in brisbane its bout 620 miles from syd. its queensland too. the sunniest place on earth where the good winds brings the perfect waves haHA

yes, sure i have a mail:
cheap_martini@ymail.com

OK i gonna go to sleep now, dreamin of good memories on my awesome green tractor
wish you a wonderful day, dear..

Hey!
Sounds like you had a great time in Germany! I love it when it feels just the way it did many years back... it's nice to feel the youngster in oneself come out again Aspecially when you are surrounded by close friends and all

I'm fine thanks. Yeah, school started.. a really booring course.. Don't really know what to do no because of it. But there is this one huuuuge oppurtunity that I am taking into consideration. The only thing is that it costs a fortune, which I don't have, and would need to take a loan. That is to study 1 full year in Australia!!!
So now, you have to tell me where in Australia you live haha. I would be going to ICMS in Sydney (Manly).
Start in february. I have not made up my mind yet because it's a huge desision and I am not sure if I will be able to gather enough money before I would have to leave... but yeah... I am seriously thinkging about it

Anyway, gotta go now. Cheers Hope to hear from you soon again. If you want, you can add me on msn. cold_orangejuice@yahoo.com Afterwards, plz delete this message from you board so that my e-mail doesn't get spreaded out haha

Ciao

Germany? really? That's close to sweden... well... compared to Australia anyway haha... I am actually polish... I mean, I was born and rased in Sweden, but both my parents are from poland, so I've been there a milion times, and even lived there for half a year once.
So you just stayed in Australia huh? How long have you been there? I am actually thinking about taking an abroad term, and Australia is a strong candidate I'd be sure to give you a heads up

man!!! polish folks are great people, always cool to hang with polkskies i have friends in Poznan and Warsaw. i noticed that here on DA there are pretty alot members from poland, right?!! and so are you he he.
arent alot of polands moving to the UK, too? wasnt it so? how it come that ur parents moved to sweden?

ahm, i live here for 7 years now. four years ago, i opened my own bar. thats the condition for imigrants to stay here, having work ... so I created my own work
are you studying or working?? what u doin? 'cause u told something bout a time abroad...

KayAZee In reply to cheap-martini [2009-05-18 18:11:15 +0000 UTC]

haha Glad to hear you like polish people Don't know about polish people on dA, but in the UK there are thounsand of them... They all go there to work cos the pay is so much better than in Poland. Don't know how dad landed up here, but my mom was visiting a friend in sweden when the (don't know what it's called in english) "war-state" thingy started in poland... you know when everybody is supposed to act as if it was war, sort of for preparing? You know, doors locked after 20.00 and stuff like that... Anyway... they called in all the polish people that were abroad at that time, and Sweden let the polish people that were here stay here against polands will.. So my mom chose to stay...

7 years? cool. you must really like it down there.. nice and sunny huh? And from the pictures I'm guessing your quite the surfer? And you got your own bar? that's cool How did you come up with that idea?
I'm studying tourism in Stockholm, Sweden.

cheap-martini In reply to KayAZee [2009-05-18 19:21:11 +0000 UTC]

yes, nice and sunny is always perfect for me. i guess sweden would be to cold for me. i even hated winter in germany ... and sweden is much much colder, isnt it?!

i just like beer and cool people, thats why my friend and i came up with the bar.
and yea, surfin i do since i'm here. my friends are always on traveling to different coasts just for the sport. sometimes i join them.. its pretty fun and u can see alot of great places, all of my photos are from my travels...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KayAZee In reply to cheap-martini [2009-05-18 19:49:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, sweden is cold, but I don't think it's worse than germany in the stockholm-area where I live. It's mostly further north that the temperature is lower... Here the climate is more or less the same I think.

Haha what guy doesn't like beer right? haha Cool idea anyway! I hope it's going well for you!
It's cool to look at your surfing photos... I've never even seen a wave like that in my whole life... And I've been sailing a few times haha... Guess europe is just not the place for waves...

cheap-martini In reply to KayAZee [2009-05-18 20:00:17 +0000 UTC]

It's the most popular place in poland when it comes to kite surfing all sorts of water sports really. I've been there, but I'm not a water sports person, so stayed on shore Very nice little city though

nah, i didnt study, after high school i decided to take a year abroad, i think i was 16 or 17 ... anyway, i wanted to start with study when i return back to germany, which i didnt he he...

and the company which did these abroad projects supported me down here. 'twas pretty well organized. they got me casual jobs, i made alot of experiences while working & traveling around in AU. what fantastic idea!
there are so many reasons which made me stay in here. there are so many great places, nice folks ... seriously, down here i found friends for life and oh ye, you're right! the always shining sun ye, its just the smoothly atmosphare which caught me.
but the main one was maybe my girlfriend that time, who i'm not together anymore. Ya .... thats pretty it!!

and you? do u want to stay in sweden? any life plans yet?

KayAZee In reply to cheap-martini [2009-05-21 13:01:10 +0000 UTC]

Wow! That's sounds like an awsome idea... I've never heard of that kind of company that helps you find casual work and stuff. Sounds really great!

I have no major life plans yet... I can only look into the nearest future... I definitely want to travel more. This summer for instance I am going to Milano, Italy to work as an Au-Pair for 6 weeks. I am trying to learn italian, and hopefully this trip will help I am also planning a trip with the pink caravans... don't know if you've heard of them? Anyway... you go like 50 people on 3 pink caravans and live and sleep in them and everything... for 2 months or so... You can go to south america or africa or whatever you choose

So you travelled a lot in Australia then? Been all around? What is your favorite place? Have you travelled a lot in you life?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cheap-martini In reply to KayAZee [2009-05-21 20:24:44 +0000 UTC]

well the the first two years i did alot. cause i thought i gonna return back to germany soon. so i wanted to see as much as possible. i just traveled around the east coast yet, as u might know .. australia is pretty big. to get to all of the great and nice places u need alot of time .. he he
but i will try to get to know more about this great country and my fav of all places is brisbane, thats why i'm here .. but now theres not much time for traveling. work and my son is keeping me busy.

so milano?? hmmm, i've never been there.. but i'm sure its nice i visited italy once too, 3 years ago i think. its really beautiful there, i'm sure i will do another trip someday, cause we were there for just a week in rome and napoli and we didnt get to see all places. really sad ...

so u learn italian? how many languages do u speak? must be alot, huh?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KayAZee In reply to cheap-martini [2009-05-21 21:40:01 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see.. Yeah, australia is quite big... So you've been to Sidney then? I've never been outside of Europe, but in europe I've been pretty much in all the most known places I think... been to paris, rome, prague, many places in poland, sweden, norway, and Italy... As I mentioned, my parents are polish, and Im raised is sweden, so yeah... swedish, polish, english (as you might have noticed? ) and now a tiny little bit of italian I was learning french when I was little, but due to a lot of small stuff that never went very well

Milano is beautiful... Before I had only visited Rome in italy, but a few weeks ago we had a week of from school and a friend and I decided to go to italy... so we went to venice and took a train west to padova, verona and then milano. All in one week pretty cool. Italy is amazing!! You definetly should go back there!

Do you speak any language apart from english and german (which I presume you speak fluently?)... I can only sing (and I don't know how it's spelled) "ja vol ja vol ich liebe alkohol, ich kaine drinke vasser, ich liebe alkohol, ja vol!" hahah

i know some polski words. watch it! ctzesc, uwaga, wino, piwo, kawa & dziekujey ... they mean, hello, watch out, wine, beer coffee & thanks, right??!
ha HA arent you proud of me??! ok, am not sure if they're written correct but i remember with these words my friends and I survived pretty well while a school trip in warsaw

yes, french sucks, in high school we had to learn it too. i never got it, the grammar was my biggest problem i guess. and except of my genious how-to-get-drunk-polish i dont speak any other languages.
and yay! ur my next bar buddy!
from where do u know that quote? first i thought its from a song of a famous punk-rock band from germany. their song called 'kein alkohol ist auch keine loesung' (which means like 'no alcohol is not the solution' ) but its not from this one, or? i dont remember the lyrics anymore...

ye, in sydney i was several times. a stunning big one, its huge. my fav place there (who wouldnt know it) is the beach. its beautiful, endless white and clean beach, just how i like it and right next to it there's the skyline of the city. definitely one of the biggest city which i've ever seen.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KayAZee In reply to cheap-martini [2009-05-22 18:59:58 +0000 UTC]

wow! you've got quite the polish skills! Very very good!
The german thing I told you is a drinking song often used in sweden... Ok, maybe not often used... but known by most swedes... I think those who know it picked it up in germany and brought it here... who knows...

I've always wanted to see sidney... or all of australia for that matter why stick to one city right?

Well, french grammer isn't exactly the easiest one. Neither is italian. I am very thankful that I know polish, because polish grammar (even though it's different) it's based on the same rules as italian... and since Im learning italian now, it gets pretty useful. I understand reasons behind the grammar, which swedes seldom get... (yay! )

A pretty nice conversation we're having here... soon there will be enough material to put it together and make a book haha

ye, from another art community. i know someone from puerto rico who i visited last spring and some really good friends here in brisbane, sydney and canberra since the 1st year i arrived here in australia.. i became friends with them cause i just wanted to get to know with people from here and i asked them alot of silly question bout country, culture, nice places to travel to, history ... honestly i annoyed them with everythin. I didnt have any better idea how to get prepared for the trip. i'm a too lazy ass to read any traveling books, so i bugged people

what bout you? i'm sure u make many friends, huh? u travel a lot too ..i would be surprised if u dont ha HA

Hey again!
Sorry for not answering for so long. School is just crazy right now. Got my final exam on thursdays and some papers to be handed in tomorrow, so yeah... busy busy...
Anyway - I think that bugging people is a lot better than reading books... In books they usually call the most touristic places to be the best to visit - while in reality thats seldom the case. Asking locals is the best way to go!!
Yeah, I've met two of my closest friends ever on the internet actually. Other than that internet is simply a great way to stay in touch with people you don't get to meet in real life... So since I've travelled a bit I now have contacts a bit all over europe Never been outside of europe though... but that time will come
If you want you can visit: [link] ... thats my "traver diary"... started it before my last trip to italy, but I added all the trips that I have ever been on... and will try to continue updating it when I travel in the future..

I need to go continue studying I wish I could go to your bar instead and have drink

Yeah, a site like that is nice to have. Friends and family can follow you wherever you go and when you come back you have documented your memories and it's nice to read after a while.
Btw, is that you on your last submission? Cool to see who I am talking too... You know when you talk with someone long enough you get an image in your head what this person could look like. And when you see a picture it is never what you expected...

mhh.. i think its just the so called annual exam exhaustion. ha ha.. dont worry, holidays will come soon, no?!! the heavier it is the more you apprechiate the time when its over and u just can relax.

so what you thought how i look like? tell me! am curious
I know what u mean. especially when u read books and imagine the characters in the story. later you watch the movie version of it and its strange how the makers interpret the story. like the Da Vinci Code. that movie really disappointed me. at least i got popcorn

i wish i can join u, weather here sucks right now, makes me frustrated and there's so much work to do.. i also need some breaks. i just get up like an hour ago and want to get right back into sleep already. screw the rain man! ^^

Yeah, probably... This is our final exam so we are all going on a summerbrake for 2 long months after... yay! You can imagine how happy I am

I didn't have a picture in my head like that, so I guess there isn't much to tell. It's like when you read a book... like you said... you can imagine the characters, but if someone asks you, you can't tell what they look like to you. They don't really have a face or anything... hmm.. do you understand what I mean or am I talking complete gibbrish? But yeah, the Da Vinci Code disappointed me too... But have you seen Angels and Deamons? Except for the fact that I still dont think that Tom Hanks looks anything like my imaginary Langdon... The movie was absolutely great I think. Much better than the Da Vinci Code... But I also thought that the book was better... so no wonder

Well, the weather isn't any good here either... we had 3 very nice days here with 24 degrees C and sunny and all (first time this year)... and today I woke up and it was raining and 10 degrees out... I thought I was gonna cry hahaha
Hmm... come to think about it.. in australia, do they talk about degrees in farenheit or celsius??

Going to bed now... get a loooot of sleep while you are up and running haha... the time difference makes it easy to make you jelous haha

Ciao!

no, sadly i didnt have the time yet to watch the second one. but my friends are saying that the Angels and Demons was better than the first. meh.. lets see .. he he
and yea, the books are always better. well they have to be, why would they make a movie out of them, right? i have two which i really liked to read and watch 'Memoirs of a Geisha' & ' Perfume'. fantastic story and wonderful movies

we have the fahrenheit scale, so u say 24°C which is like 75°F. dont worry i still know it from the european system.
well, its not the cold in here. we got like 15 16°c which is ok. but its still damn raining. i wouldnt wonder if in the last couple of days the number of suicides have been raised alot. and now i cant believe that i'm talkin bout stupid weather like i am in my sixties. meh, who cares... i hope its gettin better soon & for you too
and now i'm hungry. wat u think i should eat ... chicken or pork chop? maybe i eat both ha HA

so u'll have 2 month of holidays. thats alot, when do they start?

Well, you have to watch it. It is great

I've never been much of a reader... just started reading book actually... I don't know why, I just never seemed to enjoy it when I was a kid. I've seen the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" but i never read the book. And I have neither seen or read "perfume". Maybe I'll get to it I already have 4 or 5 books waiting to be read this summer. There is a swedish writer called Stieg Larsson who is very popular a the moment with a trilogy called "Millenium". I am reading the first book now ("Men who hate women"), about half way through and I can't put it down! If you have these books down there, you should read them

Cool to know both scales... if you talk in farenheit to me I'm completely lost Thank god for the internet where I can get it translated into celsius haha So the weather is still bad? Here it has become sunny now, but it is so windy that I'm afraid to get blown of the porch if I step outside haha. A little girl like me isn't exactly a big match for these winds hahaha (not very tall )

Yeah, tomorrows exam is the last thing in school, so tomorrow night I'll be celebrating the start of my wonderful holidays How about you? Do you get any holiday this summer? Or wait... hmm... summer isn't in june-july down there? If you do, got any plans?

Hugs

Hey! thanks Yeah, I'll do my very best to have a good holiday... don't need to do much to make that happen

Oh,I thought brisbane was a surfing-location?
Haha, and I would never call you winy for wanting to visit germany. I lived 500 km away from my family for 2 years, and I was missing everyone so much that it drove me crazy haha... but I'm a "mommas girl" hahaha

I fly to milano on june 29th. And when will you go to germany if you go?

Now Im going out to party - celebrating the fact that wrinkles will soon show up on my face hahaha

Ciao

The party was great got back around 4 am... On thing I love about sweden is how light it is here during the night... we left the club at 2.50 at it was almost daylight out! Anyway... I was out with my closest friends so it was really great

Oh, I think you misunderstood me I lived 500 km from my parents for 2 years... but I moved back to stockholm about a year ago... So now I live back home (great success.....haha). I was born and rased here in stockholm, so this is my home town I went away for 2 years to study and got back last summer. Though I do have family and friends in poland, so I hope to be able to visit them this year aswell... gotten used to do it every year, so it would be wierd not to go there.

How long is the rainy season then? Hope you get to visit your friends and family then

Cheers

hey yeah, sunlight in the middle of the night is pretty neat
I go to milano 2 weeks from now, so tomorrow I am going to gothenburg to visit a friend over the weekend. Gonna go to liseberg (biggest themepark in sweden)... but I'm a bit of a scary cat so I'll see if I'll be able to overwin my frights and hop on a rollercoaster haha

September, october?? That long?? wow... And I thought australia was sunny and awsome 90% of the year ok, maybe not that much, but still Thats a very long time...

It must be quite expensive to go from australia to europe? Approx how much do flight tickets cost??

Yeah, if I had the time You can come to stockholm and hang out if you want with the cheap flights with ryanair you could practically get here on a friday morning and leave the next day

Gotta go pack now!! Talk to you after the weekend. Have a great one!
