Hey! I have one question for you. How did you make the Vi splash so big, but keep it at great quality?
Thanks!

Well first i dragged out the original splash to the size i wanted (1600 x 900 since that's my friends resolution). Then i first started sharpening certain details of the image to make sure i could restore it back to its original quality.
When making something a higher resolution its near impossible to totally make it look like it did in its original size, so you have to try your best to sharpen the images manually and make sure that you even it out through the focal of the image and try to not over do any certain spots or else it will decrease the quality of the image.
For coloring in this case the original colors were really dull and when in a higher resolution they looked even duller. So to add some more HD to the splash art i created a series of Adjustment layers (levels, curves, photo filter, gradient maps) a long with a lot of Gaussian blur on some colored circles to give an artificial lighting effect on some of the image to help blend it in without it being too obvious.
What i mean by creating a Gaussian blur out of some colored circles is basically,
1.Fill a circle marque with a certain color,
2.Set a Gaussian blur on the circle till you get a nice faded look where you cant see too much of one shade,
3.Place it over the image in a spot where the color will most easily blend in well.
To help spice up the image, i also added my own effects in some way by producing a better light source, giving more ephasis on the color, smooth out the clothing of VI, add some color and clarity to her eyes, and add a lot more lighting to the background.
There are a lot of ways of touching up an image that can either make it seem like an original or make it better by giving your own feel of it. With this peice i mainly focused on the quality of the hair, eyes, clothing and lighting to give it a detailed effect.
hope some of this helps you ;3
