(Un)Life's pretty good, a little boring though. I need something new, ya know? It's good to hear from you again. What's IB?

You live in New York. How can you be bored?!
Hehe, you too.
And…IB is apparently evil - I don't see the resemblance, personally.

It's cause i live in the suburbs without a car. XD
No nightlife at all, no girlfriend, working all the time, SO BORED!!!!
IB doesn't seem so evil, then again, all large school corporations are evil.

Oh, I see… Haha, when does college start again? Go do something, build a fort or something.
Haha, I actually kinda like it - it's challenging but not murderous.

College started a month ago. T.T About the only thing that keeps me occupied is halloween and looking for a girlfriend.
What is your field of study?

And you are where? And YAY Halloween-ness.
Field of study? I'm not American, so we call them…something else I guess…
But anyhoo, for IB I took:
HL English, Business&Management, Film Studies
SL Chemistry, Maths, French ab inicio

So far, really no where with that XD.
What be the abbreviations HL and SL mean? and maths? like more than one at a time? XP
We call fields of study subjects in America, i just like being long winded. ^_^

HL=higher level, SL=standard level Oh yes, loads of things, my favourite's algebra.
You must be having fun then =.="

My favourite math is Calculus, all the limits as x approaches a number as well as infinity. Linear algebra was fun to. Differential equations was NOT fun though. T.T
I am having boatloads of fun...being long winded that is.

Gah, too much math-speak.I hate differentiation with a vengeance.
But, on to happier, brighter times.
Somehow, boatloads and long winded just make me think of sailing.Yeah, I'm a sail-nerd.

That was my plan all along! Mwahahaha!!! XD I do enjoy being on the water, though i have absolutely 0 opportunity to go sailing ever. Do you know all the parts of a boat?

Evil, evil, evil personage.
Pretty much. Although, this is dinghy sailing, so it's not quite the same as a yacht, there's some things on each that the other doesn't have.

Kassi-Kamira In reply to Kn1ghtofDarknes [2010-11-03 11:20:46 +0000 UTC]
Indeed you are.
Do you know how many there are?! Anyhoo, here's a few [hey that rhymes!]: main-sheet, main-sail, daggerboard/centreboard, jib, jib sheet, halyard, boom, jib halyard, clew, outhaul, downhaul, kicker, rudder, tiller, tiller extension, bung, transom…etc. etc. etc.
Did you know that?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kn1ghtofDarknes In reply to Kassi-Kamira [2010-11-03 15:00:44 +0000 UTC]
I did not know any of that. Where are those things located...i know starboard...thats the right side right? XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kassi-Kamira In reply to Kn1ghtofDarknes [2010-11-03 16:20:51 +0000 UTC]
Haha, yep; I always remember that right is longer than left, and starboard is longer than port.
Gahh, it's so complicated, I can't tell you it all…
But the rudder is the thing you steer with, the tiller and tiller-extension are the handle, the transom is the bit where it's all attached, the bung is a little hole in the back where you can let out any water that somehow managed to get between the double hull… The main-sail is…the main sail [duh] & the main-sheet is the rope you use to control that, the halyard is the rope you use to hoist the main-sail, the outhaul and downhaul tie the main-sail to the boom & mast respectively. The jib is a smaller sail at the front (in front of the mast) and it's got its own halyard [jib halyard] and jib-sheet, which serve the same function as with the main-sail. The daggerboard or centreboard is the board that sticks out the bottom of the boat to stop you drifting sideways (we also stand on it to right the boat if we capsize - which is pretty fun, especially if you manage to do a dry-capsize, really easy!). Umm…yeah.
Here's a diagram: [link] (it's not a very good one imo)
Remind me why I'm explaining sailing to you?

I wonder how our cities differ...random thought that just came into my head. What is the predominant colour of your city? New York is very gray...it's depressing really. XP

Kassi-Kamira In reply to Kn1ghtofDarknes [2010-11-15 00:04:16 +0000 UTC]
Yes, very. Like…silk(?).
Okaay…defo random G, umm…black & silver With loads of green thrown in for good measure. But this is mostly the main buildings in Central (+Admiralty, Wan Chai, etc.) which is what most photos of Hong Kong feature. But there're tons of really strangely coloured buildings in outlying areas…in one place there's this estate that ranges from green to pink…kind weird but oh wells…
New York isn't that depressing…at least in my world.

Hong Kong sounds like a very modern and fun city.

True, but so not the point.
Absolutely, I love it. And you're right, it is modern, but we've also got all the old charm of the city - both Oriental and Colonial.
