Hello,

Thank you, I'm glad that you like the pictures.
First of all, I apologize if my english is not so good

I use several different techniques on different surfaces.
The paint is diluted and applied to a surface, and after it i erase certain parts of the paint with a rag, such I get a rustic surface.
And after it i'll  drawing or painting on it.
But you can use so many techniques.
Sometimes i take the paint with a painting roller
Sometimes i make a rustic surfacing coat on a wood board ,and after drying, i buffing with an abrasive paper. And then i paint it with a diluted paint.
These techniques are very good if you want a dirty, heavy and varied surface.
If you work with acrylic, you need to use a lot of water for the background area, so there will be a lighter background and it's easier to draw.
You can make it on paper, canvas, wood and many other things.
The rest is up to the handcraft.

I hope that my answer was helpful to you
