Hello, I don't know if you remember me or not, I was the one who asked you about Celtic costumes. Well, I finished my very first dress and thought you might have a look at it if you aren't to busy. Thanks. XD

Hello!!
I am going to be attending a Celtic fair. After doing a bit of research I found that the term Celtic doesn't define just one group of peoples. Now, I'm confused on what to wear. I don't know if you know anything about Celtic dress, but I figured I would ask. Just in case you did. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!!!
Thank you!!

As far as what I know, it is mostly like Renaissance, or medieval, where it is a time period but in a general area, and for a certain group of people. To help you, what I would recommend to do is pick one of the countries that was assoc with Celts (Irish is most common) and then decide on a time period of the Celtic period that you would like to associate yourself with. This makes it easier to research what to wear. For example, Renaissance is a period in England in the 1550s - 1610s which is a wide variety of styles, but if you go to Italy, Renaissance was in the 1400s. Wikipedia surprisingly describes it well. You have some wonderful costumes in your gallery ... evidence of good work and attention to detail.
I hope that you know about the Society for Creative Anachronism [link] ... from what you have said about where you live, you are in the Kingdom of Northshield [link] ... Woodlands Region [link] ...
Many opportunities for costume ... wearing, making, and even selling.
Enjoy

I haven't officially joined, but I do have a friend that is part of the SCA in our area. I am part of the Madison Area Costuming Society (MACS) which she is part of with me, and thus, makes us aware of upcoming events and such. I am also part of the Guilde of Saint George, at the Bristol Renaissance faire in Kenosha, WI, which is how I got officially started on Renaissance recreation. ^_^ Are you in the SCA? which kingdom if you don't mind my asking?

You could make entry a small fee, like $1 per person and put the proceeds into the outfit and other prizes.
