Hey hey! Thank you for wondering about me! I'm doing fine, by the way. Just being busy with my university and all, but I think that's life.
Don't worry about we not knowing each other. I like starting conversations with others, especially from here, where you can find people from other countries and get to know their art, their likes, and dislikes. It's always fun and all.
So what about you, how have you been doing?
I also noticed you started watching me yesterday! Thank you so much for that! I hope my art can interest you!

It's a bit unusual to find someone with the "serious" trait, isn't it? I think you're the second person I know that is like that.
Oh, whew. Good to know it was only because you're a busy person, and not because I'm a moron! xD
Ah, yes. Spanish and Portuguese have some similar words. I once talked to a Spanish girl I've met here using my Portuguese, while she was answering me in Spanish. It was a very interesting experience, because even though we were using two different languages, we kind of could understand each other without many problems. I had to use Google Translator only three times, if I'm remembering it correctly. (But a small note here: Portuguese and Spanish are only similar when writing. If you try to speak to me verbally in Spanish... I probably won't understand a word D. And you're welcome. I'm glad I could help you, in some way.
Thank you so much for saying my English isn't that bad! I took an English course when I was a teen, and since then I keep trying to practice it online. It's the only place I can use my English properly, as in Brazil we have only one main latin language, and all the other countries next to us don't speak English either. I used to be better at it, though. As time has passed, unfortunately many words and grammar rules I have forgotten. My ex-boyfriend who's an American says I have serious problems with English prepositions, for example!
What other languages are you learning, by the way?
I'm quiet in real life as well. I'm more like that kind of person who prefers to observe my surroundings and to listen to my friends talking. I usually say things when I find nice opportunities.
If people turn away because of your ideas you should smack them on the head! Everyone has their rights to express their ideas, if their ideas aren't being unethical or going against human rights 'n stuff like that!
Seriously? Wow, I guess that's why I haven't met nasty people yet. I have never been to the forums! Thank you for warning me about this! I'll make sure to never visit it, then.
It makes sense, though. Imagining that you can only find nice people on Deviantart was sounding too unrealistic, indeed.
I have only met people with weird fetishes, expressing their fetishes through their art and all... but that isn't that bad, I'd say. It's weird but acceptable, if they're respecting Deviantart's rules. I can't say much 'cause even I like to make a few sexualized art. So yeah, I truly didn't have that bad luck you had!
You're welcome. You have a very unique style, which can be easily associated to you, like a signature. It's very nice!

Yes, Ikr? Most of the people I know are permanent jokers it seems like, and people who are serious are not usually so naturally.
And yes, you too. I mean ... I like some types of humour ... but not really "humour" ... I like wordplay and anything to do with that, but that's more admiring cleverness or intelligence, not humour, and finding it comical is more of a "side effect" if you know what I mean? ^^'
Oh, wow, how interesting! The pronunciations are definitely very different, and with Spanish, even the pronunciations between Mexico, and for example, Spain, are so different ... It makes learning Spanish really difficult! ;v;
I don't think you have many problems. Maybe speaking, like me ... when I speak my grammar suffers much more than in writing, but I think part of why that's true for so many is the inclusion of particles like commas that aren't really pronounced. I've heard that some languages have actually pronounced grammatical particles (for example, Quechua, if you've heard of it, and even Japanese to a degree ... I think?) but that can make grammar difficult in a lot of other ways.
I'm currently studying Japanese, as I want to major in it and it is probably the language I'm studying most seriously, but I once took a little French too. I'm currently trying to teach myself Spanish and Russian (and Quechua but I find it difficult since almost no one will teach it) and I hope someday to learn many more. Thank you for asking too Are you currently taking any>
Yes ... I met a girl who said she was proud to have driven others to suicide. I'm not sure if it was a joke or not, but it certainly left a nasty impression.
Some of the forum divisions are usually troll-free, for example Help with Life, Projects, General (for art), and all of the Thumbshare ones. I actually highly recommend these because they help a lot with exposure. The "Deviants" section is alright; usually it is free of trolls, but there are still troublemakers. I would, however, be especially wary of Politics, Religion and Philosophy, and especially Complaints. Those places are troll havens (and I went through a serious depression after accidentally venturing into Complaints. )
Other than the forums I never really have bad luck, except on certain posts there have been bullies (or one time when I commented on an untagged porn photo and asked them to put a tag, and the person then proceeded to trash all of my art). I would also be wary of certain political stamps. But in general the site is pretty nice, and I've made several wonderful friends, as well as having had some life-changing experiences. I also like how DA is more casual of an art community than Pixlr or Instagram, or Tumblr, so being surrounded by many other artists, I was also able to make more improvement in a year than I basically had for my whole life before that.
About fetishes, I think that they should probably be tagged as mature if they're extreme, but unless they're horribly violent, they're okay. For example, I have a huge phobia to force-feeding and looking at a drawing of it gives me an instant panic attack, so I think it's only polite to tag extreme ones, but ... in general they're fine. (I mean, I'm a guro artist, so except when I go extreme I don't tag anything.)
Thank you so much! You do too C: I really like the colours and fluidity in all of your drawings. <3

Sorry for not replying as quicker as before!
I understand. It's an interesting trait (which... I'm actually quite familiar with, I'd say! ). That American ex-boyfriend of mine I told you about is a film critic and he has a very similar humor like yours. He enjoys every well written narrative, with clever wordplay and extremely well made plot and characters, making him laughing at scenes that aren't funny for non-English speakers like me. He has very exquisite tastes, which is probably one of the things that makes him good at what he does. Maybe you have exquisite tastes too just like him.
I don't know exactly what makes me laugh. I know I like satires, as I once told you, but... what makes me burst out laughing is a mystery. It always happens unexpectedly. I could be watching something that is not funny at all, or that is extremely funny to most people and easily bet that I wouldn't be laughing, until something happens in 2 seconds of the movie and I'm laughing at these 2 seconds that... usually only I found funny. I mean, it doesn't happen everytime, but most of the times I laughed happened this way.
I'm a goofball, though. As I can't laugh that easily, I like trying to make others laugh and create a nice environment for people to see I'm not cold, nor hostile, as it's possible for others to think during first impressions.
No, I didn't know about Quechua, but I have a friend who speaks Japanese. She likes how their grammar rules are completely different from languages we are used to hear, but she didn't think it was a difficult language to learn, as she said they have way more simplified phrases constructions and less words than us, being even more simplified than English too. What do you think about it?
At the moment I'm not taking language courses, but I once tried learning Italian on those online courses. My family came from an Italian root, so I thought it would be interesting to learn it as a way to keep being connected to that side of our family.
You want to learn many languages! It's a great thing, actually. My cousin is multilingual because of his work, and he says it gets very easy to learn languages once you become fluent in 3 different ones. You start noticing patterns and rules that are being repeated. So I'd bet it'll soon be very easy for you.
Oh, wow... that's horrible. But yeah... we can't be free of problematic people, I guess. When I'll have the time I'll take a look at the forums for my first time, and avoid the ones you're telling me to avoid!
Mmhmm, I like how Deviantart is casual as well. It's like you can talk to both inexperienced artists and extremely professional artists in the same level. Both are very likely to answer you and even get into a nice conversation, sometimes even teaching you some of their techniques. I got involved in many conversations like that here, and they were always very nice and helpful.
Yes, of course. Fetishes are free, but need to be tagged. It's part of Deviantart's rules, anyways. If people don't follow it, they can be reported.
You're welcome and thank you!

Wooah! They didn't know anything about animes? That's quite surprising! In here even the cool playboys watch animes, hah. It's everywhere!
Oh, you guys have clubs like in America and Japan (I guess they have it, right? Or is it just a highschool thing for them? I'm not sure.) In my college we don't have it. We just have a group of sports and eSports for each course, and a group for parties. So there's competitions, and events, but no clubs. It's the same thing for our highschools. At least never saw one that had clubs. It's only for sports and eSports, but in that case there's no group for parties.
Why couldn't you sleep? Intense insomnia? I'm glad it's over! I deeply hate when I have insomnia, so I could easily believe it's one of the worst feelings ever!
Pfffff, didn't know this sadomasochistic side of yours! Ok, then turn for me, please, and I shall spank your butt! .... What? I said nothing!
4 months? But wait, who was born first? If it was you, then it would be 7 months. If it was me, then 3, right? Or should I count the month we were born, making it 4 and 8? I'm confused! I was born in 1995, what about you?

It's very popular here now, or maybe it's because we moved in a big city. Anime/manga is everywhere here, too. Also back when I was in hs, anime culture was still pretty niche here, there was no manga published in our language etc. It has grown a lot in the last a few years.
Well, looks like you found yourself a good group of friends without clubs either way. But it's interesting that you guys don't have 'em.
Yeah, it fucked me up quite a bit for a while. Most days I couldn't sleep until the sun came up. But it's all fine now.
Oops, I'm not so innocent, I guess.
95 baby here, too! Yeah, it's actually 7-8 months. I mixed it up, 4 months from now on is when I turn 23. The joke was on me, I guess I really am a grandpa, you were right all along.

Good thing you guys have it in your language now. It's annoying when things take a long time to be available in your country. I know the feeling.
I believe manhwas aren't that common here. Many don't know the differences between manga and manhwas, as some don't even know what manhwas are. I believe their writting style isn't that appealing to us. I tried reading three or four, but only one got my attention.
Heh, it's alright, sir. We gotta understand and be patient when seniority shows its first symptoms! Ok, ok, I'll stop messing with you.

Thank you so much!! I'm really beaming haha, I appreciate that you took note of how I use my supplies/ what I've been working to improve. It's in part from trial and error, and by looking at art with white gel pen as a primary feature, like what does with white pencil. I took a lot of inspiration as a child from Jhonen Vasquez and Tim Burton too, hence the dark shadows and thick lines, haha.
If you're interested in buying some white gel pens, I recommend Gelly Roll brand! Souffle pens look identical, but the ink cracks apart and turns a nasty color after a few months, Gelly Roll really keeps up, even after a few years. I just use recycled toned paper and ballpoint/sharpie for everything else, in case you wanted to try something similar Have fun with your art!

Oh, no. It's not something too dramatic, I just can't draw as well as I want to and it drives me crazy sometimes. I feel like It's too late for me to become as good as a professional manga-ka. (Sorry for the blues, lol)
Is that the reason you call me sir all the time? Why did you think I was older?
Good to hear you had fun, ma'am!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LahBT In reply to VortexOfSaturn [2015-09-26 23:51:20 +0000 UTC]
Too late? But you draw so well, sir! I mean, your style, your skills and techniques, I believe they already fit for a mangaka standard. If you want to keep practicing, to become better and better, I understand and I say it's good for an artist. But you're talented, already. "Too late" sounds kind of misplaced in this context. (Oh, no problems about the blues. If it's like She's Mine All Mine, by Arthur Gunter, it's cool.)
Heh, actually, no. It's a silly habit I have. I like referring to men as "sirs". Sometimes I even say "sir" to people that are younger than me. It's because for me, in a way, it sounds sort of friendly. Of course that, when I'm talking to older people, or someone that is a stranger for me, I say "sir" trying to be polite, trying to show respect. However, when I'm talking to friends, to close ones, I like saying "sir" to sound a little bit goofy and kind. Hah, it's weird, I know, but what comes to my mind when I say "sir" to friends, is a scene of a mother teaching her little son, in a lovely way, that what he was doing was wrong: "What do you think you're doing, little sir? You can't do that. Nah, nah, nah." Hah. So, yeah, I try to use it with the same kindness. What a gigantic explanation! Although I'm not sure if I was clear. Hah
Oh, I thought you were older because you're a very mature person. Well, at least you sound mature. Basically it, sirly sir.
Well, what everybody says... if you're going to live, better make sure to have fun! Hell yeah!

Not a problem, sir. You gotta do whatch'a gotta do.
But I understand that feeling of not improving as fast as wanted. Well, I hope your motivation to draw comes back soon.

I believe I can say "yes, I'm creating". I mean, I have a lot of characters that don't have a purpose. However, I also have characters that were made for specific projects. For example, I have a folder on my gallery called "Original Characters - Rob and Company". These characters have a story. I even sent their pilot story for a publishing house, here in my country. Now I'm waiting for their answer, to see if they'll approve it or not.
