I hope your adaption for Hiroshi Sakurazaka's book All You Need is Kill will be good. Hollywood did a great job on the live action part.

Hello, Im kinda interested to know what is your drawing process? What kind of pencils do you use? How long does it usually take you to draw a single page of art? Thank you

Usually I use a 2MM pencil with either H or HB lead, depending on the day. I used to use 2H (and sometimes 4H) lead, but lately I've been going with the softer stuff. I also keep around some old 2B standards, just for filling in blacks. As for a page of art ... well, it really depends on the page. Sometimes I can blow through one in a few hours, but then some pages can take a couple days (or more). Just depends on the script and what it calls for, really. And my process ... well, it seems to always be evolving. I'm always trying to 1) keep the life that my sketches have (it doesn't always carry over to the finished page), and 2) get faster. Lately, what I've been doing is roughing out a page on a sheet of 8x11 copy paper. Usually focusing on the layout and composition first, and then tightening up anything that I think might be a problem area later on. At that point, I scan it into Photoshop, turn it into blue lines, and blow it up to 11x17 size. Then I print it out and either go to finished pencils, or, if I'm inking myself, I'll just go through and work out the faces and any other areas that might be tricky, and then go to the inks. Speed-wise, it seems to be working out alright, and it's keeping me interested, so I don't feel like I'm re-drawing the same thing over and over. There's more margin for error, but it feels much more spontaneous and lively, I think...

Hi there! I just read the article about you in Florida Weekly, and I just have to say your work is amazing! Congratulations on your published book! I will definitely be running out and picking it up.
Also, I was amazed to see that there is an established comic artist in Cape Coral. Thought I was surrounded by only retirees. lol Do you attend any of the Florida conventions? I know there is a small one that I'll be going to in Punta Gorda in Sept. Generally always get an artist table at Megacon though. :3 I would love to meet you in person though, and get my copy of your book signed! *geeks*
Again, Congrats! That is such an amazing achievement that I hope to reach myself some day. Definitely going to you for further updates. :3

Thanks! And yes, I am going to the show up in Punta Gorda next month ... and thinking that I would also like to hit MegaCon again. It's been a little while...

Oh that's great to hear! I will definitely be by to see you there. Megacon has also gotten much better over the years. They've really gotten some great media guests along with artists. Last year Stan Lee was there. Wicked cool meeting him. Also William Shatner. This year looks promising too.

Hey Lee. Doing great here. Been working on a lot of music lately and drawing whenever I have the time. I'm almost done writing the script for the first issue of my book. I'm gonna draw up some pages and submit it to publishers and see what happens.

Hey Craig! I didn't even know you had a page here until I was talking with Brandon today. I would have added you a lot earlier if I'd known ... or if I'd just spend more time here. Ha!
And I am having a blast right now. Working on both Snake Eyes and Miranda at the same time is easily the most I've enjoyed drawing since I was a kid.
I heard you had a good con? I've only been to one show in the last ... three years? I'm a hermit...

Hey! Yeah, I did well at the con. Got a nice chunk of money, so that was good. That's awesome you're having fun working, gotta love the comic business for that. I really hope you guys find a colorist soon so the book can start coming out sooner rather than later. Looking forward to all of it!

It's going to be weird to finally see Miranda come out. Having drawn it over the course of a few years, there will be a lot of cringe-worthy stuff in some ways. Then again, it's a nice measuring stick for growth, I guess.
How's the Kubert School been? If the stuff I'm seeing is any indication, you're rocking it up there...

Thank you, it's been a lot of fun there. Going back in just 2 weeks now and I can't wait. Now that I did the first year, I know what to avoid and what to try harder on. And how to manage my time better, hah. But yeah, great teachers there. Very glad I'm going, since I also made some good friends there too.
