Metamorphosis got me real good, but tbh Things Fall Apart slayed me. I've always headcanoned that Raziel was closer to Melchiah than the others (partially out of a slightly condescending big brother complex, partially because Melchiah is the weakest and the least of a threat) and so not only did I get some headcanon fodder but I was upset.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I always thought it was odd that the strongest and weakest brothers were right next to each other. It was like Raziel was protecting him.

It would make so much sense for Melchiah too, having Raziel there to help protect his territory. Plus, to me, it seemed like in Soul Reaver Melchiah's conversation with Raziel was the most... Intimate? I don't know. It felt a lot more to me like 'brothers turned enemies' than any of the others. Kinda bittersweet, like they'd known each other a lot better than Raziel's conversations with his other brothers indicated.

I really should write more stories about Raziel and his brothers because I have such an extensive headcanon for them. I think he was close to all of them, but in different ways, and as time went on he drifted apart from them. To use a cliche, I picture Dumah and Turel as the jocks, Zephon and Rahab as the geeks, Melchiah as the outcast, and Raziel as the other jock who nonetheless gets along with everyone (except for Zephon because they're polar opposites).

Tho generally I always viewed Turel and Raz as having a more... strained? Relationship with Raziel. Due to being first and second brother, I always imagined that Turel would be viewed a little more critically than Raziel since he's 'the golden child'. I did figure Duman and Turel would be closer to each other than the rest, the same as Rahab and Zephon.
