Yeah I intend to! ... Hopefully speaking hahaha. I intend to go to some other cons as Luffy and explore some new ideas. But Luffy is my main cosplay. I am actually spending my free time training to fit the role better. I am stretching daily, dieting and utilizing my MMA techniques. So hopefully when you see me again its more improved!

I honestly haven't given any thought to posting any tutorials but perhaps I'll do so in my journal section. In the meantime I would be happy to help you out. I hope this makes sense and helps you out. If you have any other questions before I get around to posting something on how I made everything, feel free to ask.

HAT:

The hat was tricky. I was shocked to discover I couldn't find the color fabric I wanted ANYWHERE. I hope you have better luck with this. I actually wound up going to Wal-Mart and buying an extra large t-shirt which I cut apart and used for my fabric. It matched the color of Bonney's hat better than anything I'd seen at the fabric stores I'd been to. I was, however, able to find the trim at the fabric store.

Moving on to the shape... I used a straw hat (sort of like Luffy's) for the base. I just cut the brim off of it first. I pulled the fabric taut over the base as much as possible, folded it under and then hot glued it to the inside of the hat. Note: There will most likely be wrinkles. Just remember that most of the hat will be hidden by the brim that surrounds it, so as long as the top is smooth and you have a smooth bit to use as the front of the hat then don't lose too much sleep over the rest.

For the brim I used a sheet of a thin, foamy material I found at the craft store. For the length, I measured the circumference of the hat and added a few inches to allow the ends to overlap like they do on Bonney's hat(feel free to be generous with this since you can always make it shorter if need be). For the height just measure the height of the base that you already made. I made the brim slightly higher than my base. Once you've got the strip measured and cut out you can cut the ends in a curve (I just eyeballed this as I cut it). I put the two ends together and cut them at the same time to ensure symmetry was achieved. Then all that's left is to add the fabric and trim. I hot glued the fabric to the part that is covered by trim, cut off the excess fabric and then hot glued the trim to it. Just remember to leave extra at the bottom to fold underneath the hat in the end.

To be 100% honest I was a bit hasty with the construction of my hat and if I did it over again I would probably put more time and care into making it. Just be sure to reserve enough time for this project and don't procrastinate like I did.


SHIRT:

The top was fairly simple. I went to the mall and looked around until I found a form fitting white tank top. Then I hemmed it to make it the appropriate length. Since the tank was extremely snug, it still fit the way I wanted it to even after I removed some of the length.


BELT:

The belt was largely just a lucky find. I went into an accessories store at the mall looking for an orange belt, already resigning myself to making a buckle. What I found was a cheap brown belt with a bronze buckle I thought could pass for Bonney's buckle. The buckle originally had a plastic gem in the center of it but once I pried that off and painted the whole thing gold you couldn't even tell. Also, painting the belt worked out for the best in the end because I was able to be more picky about the color.

well yes as Free from soul eater and kakuzu from naruto! but not kaku yet! natsucon is tomorrow and i still havent got everything yet!
