Now we have already 10 Artist for the AFRAnthology, the two dozen are near:
www.facebook.com/marcus.diocle…
And we have a flatscreen for digital art slide show on DVD, too. If you prefer your file(s) printed over here, 50 x 70 cm or 2 or 4 x 25 x 70 cm would be the maximum . Deadline is the 28. Feb.

I can do that by 28 Feb. But I don't think I would have time to ship prints or DVD. Would it be possible to run a slide show from a gallery on deviantart.com?

UPDATE: A slide show from an online source is not an option, everything digital has to run from CD/DVD. I've found rather cheap frames for photo prints at 20 x 61 cm (7,874 x 24,016 in), standard sizes like 40 x 60 cm are no big deal. Prints on forex boards are incredible expensive, but I will look for any other cheap board material of low flammability, to paste prints up properly needs just some skill.

BAVARIA SANCTA - Lives of the Saints and Blessed of the Bavarian State...(etc)  - Edited by Dr. Magnus Jocham, professor of theology and spiritual archbishop Council - With approval of the Most Reverend Archdiocese of Munich - Freising, (1861)

According to BAVARIA SANCTA, following Afra's meeting with judge Gaius, "...she was taken by the henchmen and led to an island of the Lech River. There they stripped off her clothes and tied her to a stake."
Snooping the internet, I found only one image that came close to depicting that state of dress (she was topless): Matthew Kager's engraving, Plate # C-3, page 21 of Bavaria Sancta (1716). Works by the remaining artists showed her wearing the glorious trappings of the Renaissance (with the exception of the Master of Messkirch, who depicted her in a plain brown robe).
I really don't trust Google as a translator, so I'll do one image in the next few days and then get your approval before I do any more. I would feel icky if I were to violate Augsburg's collective moral standards or create an international/interfaith incident.

Assuming everything comes together... since you are willing take a risk on the prints, I would only ask for a 20% commission on the net proceeds.

Oh, there always have been naughty pics of Afra and other female saints, sex sells even religion, the most hardcore painting is this one: tarvos.imareal.oeaw.ac.at/serv…
Moral standards? This is happy Hun land, we have nudity and smut in advertising galore, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting T&A! A few years ago there was a so-called family friendly street festival in the Maxmilianstrasse. And in front of the Basilika St. Afra was a promotion booth selling booze with a giant banner of dull rudeness: www.partyschnaps.com/_upload/b… A Jägermeister clone called "Fucking". The authorities gave the permission for this white trash promotion, not even the clerics next door gave a shit about it. AFRAnthology will be behind doors, don't like, don't come in. And even most low brow Art is protected by our freedom of speech, even "they" try to re-install censorship: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperia_…
But they fail. The catholics invented Afra as a prostitute (fictional, as they had to confess) and established her legend as folklore = public domain. "Blasphemy" isn't valid with saints anyway, so don't hold back. Chris Winter didn't, he focused on the gore kids are exposed to in churches: www.christopher-winter.com/gal…
Oh, there will be no net proceeds, I won't sell anything, this is a no-budget-no-profit event, oldschool sub-culture. The exhibits will have a label feat. the name of the artist and the contact info s/he wishes, there'll be a most simple catalogue, too. If you want me to, I'll burn the prints, too. Seriously, this is Punk plus promotion, I leave the business to the artists.
I've found a good material which is especially made for photo prints on board, 50 x 70 cm are 6 Euros, that would made 3 Euros for an elongated format of 25 x 70 cm. 150 dpi do it at this size, 300 dpi are maximum. Do. Or do not. There is no try. I know your style and what to expect, but you're not tied to it. Art is capricious, even the Mona Lisa wasn't painting by numbers the customer gave Leonardo... and look at the girl now! :-D

I'm glad I asked. A couple of the images I had planned were probably too Blue for DeviantArt (certainly beyond what you called "hardcore"). I'll post the lamest here for your approval.

No need for spoilers (the exhibits will be top secret till day X), just choose (a maximum of 3) your top images and mail them: afranthology@public-files.de Approval? I've asked for it! :-D

Great! Just one question: how much document bleed is required for the 70x25 cm prints?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

diokletan In reply to LordlyBlue [2014-01-30 23:02:35 +0000 UTC]

No real bleed required, the best value is still a classic photo print which has none (rather robust and easy to paste on a board, too). The labs crop the prints just a little bit and sometimes not exact, so you can add 1 to max. 3 mm at each side.

No need to ship, I would make photo prints (framed or on board, what I can afford) or a slide show from files which I would burn after reading. If you trust me that far, of course, Grand Theft Art is against my religion. Think it over, I'll look for nice price elongated frames tommorrow anyway.
This is an entry which another artist delivered in person today:

Not that off-topic as it seems, Mozart visited the hometown of his father rather often and spent loads of bucks on Afra's granddaughters. I simply love my 2nd degree homie:

Now there is a fb page for my Afra thingy:

Google translate should help with the concept text, but you know what it's all about already.
