The dark clouds parted, allowing tendrils of beautiful evening sunlight to filter in and splash against the dark and elegant exterior of the Twilight Palace, bathing it in a gleaming orange glow. A figure stood upon the balcony, basking in the light and sighing softly to herself, looking out to the settlement that rested at the foot of her palace before allowing her eyes to wander to the darker recesses of her kingdom. She gripped the railing until her knuckles turned white, but the ache she felt caused her no true discomfort; she preferred the physical pain rather than the anxiety that was bubbling within her heart and frothing her soul about. She snarled quietly to herself and released the metal from her grip, pacing to and fro with a knitted brow on her features.
A figure watched the woman move back and forth, a pip
