Ooh right. DA has a limit on how many clubs you can admin.
Keep me posted, and let me know if you have any questions
I'm pretty sure you can leave the club in question and then rejoin as just a member...but that's up to you.

Not bad, but I've been teaching full time since last November so been rushed off my feet! The holidays are killing me though, I've never had this much time to myself before and I'm a little stir crazy at the moment. I keep rearranging furniture, and I was meant to be in a badminton club and a running club and training for a marathon, but I got a knee injury a week before the end of term so that went out the window! How's your life?

Wow, sounds like you've been crazy busy! And man, isn't that just the way: you've got all these great plans and then your body goes all "NOPE" and then you're just stuck there.
....Which is kind of like the story of my own life lately I've been doing alright, just not nearly as active as I wish I could be due to not only chronic issues with my hands and arms and back, but also now (as of May) my elbows, which used to be perfectly fine and now hate me the most. It's all getting better over time, of course, but it sure doesn't help with writing or drawing or my current job (online tutoring) or getting out as much as I wish I could. And I sure as heck can't have a full-time job yet because of it all, and because I never know when my progress is going to relapse and what will trigger it.
But anyways, aside from that, it's been good I'm definitely thrilled to be doing online tutoring part-time as opposed to working at a fast-food joint part-time. I know it's dramatic to say, but fast-food jobs are soul-numbing work, especially once you're out of college. But now I don't have to worry about it any more, thank goodness And tutoring really is interesting! You never know quite what you'll get. And since it's online I get to make my own schedule, which is SO NICE.
So yeah, it's been going well overall! Thanks for asking!

Aww, well I hope they can fix your injuries! Nothing worse than feeling weak, but don't push yourself too hard! I'm glad you're in a job you enjoy. Tutoring is SUCH rewarding work

We'll just have to see!
And yes, even though it's online, it's just...I dunno, I just love it! And how about teaching? Are you still enjoying that after almost a year of doing it full-time?

I'm loving it. The work load is pretty intense but especially since I'm working so much with children with Special Needs it's really fun and rewarding. My boss gives me lots of liberty as well so I pretty much do my own thing and aren't too bound by topics and curriculum as long as I get consistent results (which so far I have very little problem doing). I love method teaching! And since I manage my own timetable pretty well I have a lot of time for myself, though I'm generally exhausting through it!
So is teaching/tutoring what you'd like to do with your life?

That's great that it's working out so well. And that's really amazing that you are working with children with Special Needs; it really takes a talented person to do so!
And what is method teaching, exactly?
Not quite; all I really want to do is write I've been looking seriously at doing self-publishing, not as a copout from traditional publishing, the just because it seems like it's becoming easier and easier to live off of self-publishing as a career, even if you are just a midlister. The cut is higher than in traditional publishing, and also self-publishing is just getting more and more popular it seems. Of course, I have other reasons than just money for wanting to do self-publishing....but it sure doesn't discourage me.

Sorry that took so long, got my new school year's lists and have been working really hard lately - 61 children a week, each with their own needs, agendas and requirements = it's a hard job! And of course being small children they like to spread germs around so I got sick straight away at the start of therm! Method teaching is basically where you put a child in a position to learn things for themselves, rather than actively telling/showing them. It can take a lot of time, planning and a hint of devious cunning, but it sticks a lot better, which is especially great when you're dealing with children with learning difficulties so it's my preferred technique. I still write, of course, but this job is intensely paperwork-heavy and some days when I get home I don't even want to look at a computer! Something odd's happened with my writing, though; after a year of psychotherapy my mental health feels like I'd expect of a normal person, yet the healthier I become, the darker the contexts of my stories...
Self-publishing does have an awful lot of advantages, especially now that e-books have become so common and it's so easy not to pay printing fees. Have you thought about publishing in magazines? That's how Steven King started and made a name for himself. If you can find the right magazine for the right audience it could be good for you. You'd probably have to work at it for a few years before you got a stable enough income just from writing, but it could be well worth it.

Oh my goodness, I definitely couldn't do what you do. It sounds pretty amazing. I hope you haven't gotten sick again since then!
Method teaching sounds extremely interesting and extremely hard, but also kind of really great. Definitely does indeed sound like it could work very well for all kinds of children, especially those with learning difficulties. Pretty amazing... Is it something new, or have I just been completely out of the education loop? (which is highly probable)
In a weird way, it kind of makes sense that your stories would grow darker as you feel better. Like, it's like you can understand and handle a lot more of these kinds of things more easily than you could, and the creative part of your brain is taking advantage of that? Maybe.
Yep, plus e-books are cheaper, so even starving college students will be able to buy them. In some ways, it expands the audience a little. Of course, you completely miss all the people who never shop for those kinds of things, or never go online anyways... But yeah.
I have thought about publishing and magazines some. It is just a bit freaky, because there are SO MANY out there! It's pretty mind blowing. It would probably do me good to start looking at them more, but I am a little reluctance mostly because I know that the search is going to probably take longer than I think. It is awesome that there are so many different journals and magazines out there for all different tastes and genres and such, but it can be pretty intimidating.
