I was born and raised in Dublin Ireland and moved to America five years ago. I fly to Ireland every two years to visit my family and there are still many things about America I do not understand, however I am eager to learn everything I can. Simply photo-manipulating an original piece of work, or tracing/"replicating" it doesn't mean you are allowed to use it without the original artist's permission.

Simply because the pieces were taken down by DA staff, that doesn't magically erase what you did. Even if you had retraced the work by hand, that doesn't mean that it wasn't theft.
FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?
You had no proof of permission from the original artists of the works you edited, therefor you likely didn't have their permission and the images weren't yours.
Ripping images off google and claiming them as yours constitutes as theft, honey.
