Hi cesaw70!

I think I'm actually blushing a bit by your comment. That's so very kind of you to recognize my hard work with such encouraging words. It's wonderful to have hard work appreciated, and I thank you for that.

I also offer my thanks for the Watch and the Llama Badge. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the llamas, but I appreciate the gesture!

Take care!

Hi airguy1603!

Thanks so much for the compliments on my RC story. I actually update much faster on fanfiction.net than here (about one chapter a month). In fact, I have up to Chapter 25 (26 including the prologue) posted on fanfiction.net. If you want to see up to the most current chapter, you can either do a search on "Ms.MaraJade" (my pen name) or "Republic Commando: Knight of Honor" (the story title).

I was planning to put a couple more chapters out here on deviantart soon, but I usually get distracted from doing so. Most of my procrastination is simply because of the amount of time it takes to upload a text document and insert all the italics formatting.

Don't worry about asking questions! I don't mind answering inquires about the story and am always glad to clarify something or offer further information.

Again, I must say that I'm very excited to see such compliments and that you appreciate the story!

Take care.

Wow! That's dedication.

Yes, I have read all 4 novels and even the excerpts from the Legacy of the Force series that Karen Traviss wrote that were relative to Mando culture during Jaina's stay on Mandalore. I was greatly inspired by her work, and just couldn't resist playing a bit in the Mandalorian/Commando culture that Traviss had created. I miss her in the fandom but completely understand her reason for having to leave.

yea i just hate that after 5 books, they all of the sudden decide to pull the plug and reign in on the continuity issues and so forth.. just doesnt seem right that the very last novel is cancelled and we r left hanging on it..
i def love just the combat and the gritty warfare clone side to the story and damn i wanna know what happens to clan skirata! lol

There was a rumor I had read on one of the Mandalorian fan boards that IC 2 was actually supposed to end with Darman and Venku being reunited. Before hearing that, I had feared Darman was going to go ballastic on Clan Skirata and kill Kal as retribution for his helping the Jedi.

But, that's all for naught now since it's not going to happen. Another rumor was that another author was supposed to pick up the rest of the story, but that fell through. I think fan concerns about a different author screwing up the storyline might have attributed to that, but that's just my personal opinion about it. I really don't know why another author didn't come forth.

yea thats true, another author was supposed to write it but then it got cancelled again, and the storyline from traviss herself was a loose what if, that darmen would reunite with everyone after some battles and drama..but alas it wont be so..
just sucks cause i had like 4 years invested reading and rereading all of these books which ilove

I hear you with the investing in the story and all. I happened upon "Hard Contact" by accident. I had always read Star Wars books, but I really had no interest in any of the games. My husband borrowed the RC game from a friend of his, and I really didn't get a chance to watch much of the storyline because it was all first-shooter. However, he had gotten the book "Hard Contact" a while afterwards and left it on the dining room table after he finished it. I got as far as the prologue, and I was totally hooked. Something about the way Traviss breathed life and emotions into the clones (who were given so very little of nothing in the movies) just sucked me in, and I really wanted to know more about them. Then, when she got into the whole Mando culture and wrote it very parallel to the Celts, I knew this was going to be my new obsession.

So, yes, having Traviss' world simply unravel because of Lucas and his continuity issues was like a real slap in the face. I hate these "new Mandalorians" that are on The Clone Wars. I just don't know why he didn't create a different culture to be these "pacificts." Oh well, I guess. It's annoying but there's nothing we can do about it.

yea i def love how the culture developed, kinda samurai/native american warrior status but all about family and traditions.. def gave a huge uplift to what was behind the mask we always see in the movies. i randomly came upon the book too since i had already read some SW books and this just feel into the type of action war type novels that i love.. so i def read all of them so quickly..

yea in the new cartoons the mandos r peaceful and not the mercenaries that the books and comics had stated before, and then in the movies, Jango was the last of his kind.. so they(lucas films) often go back and forth with how they explain the mando way and life and how they lived.. but god whats he did was amazing..

MsMaraJade In reply to airguy1603 [2010-11-17 03:30:18 +0000 UTC]

I truly agree that the Mando culture under Traviss' tutelage was just something that struck me emotionally. I loved reading how the Mandalorians were not just a bunch savage mercenaries like most of the literature prior regarded them. The philosophies of family and belonging are just so strong in Traviss' universe. It makes me wish we had just an ounce of that in reality. *shrugs shoulders knowing it'll never be*

Sadly, though, Traviss' Mando universe has been struck down by the corporation that is "Make Money." I've been watching The Clone Wars series since the first episode, and while there were only about two or three episodes last year that were really great (The Deserter my top favorite), this season is very lacking in Clones. I'm hoping that's just because they are getting the political storylines out of the way in the first half of the season. I keep waiting for the cameo of Delta Squad and am hoping that they do some justice for them.

Sorry. I just realized I never responded!

The next chapter probably won't be done for about another month or so (that's about average for me). I work full-time, have a family, and time isn't always my own so when I do write it's only a couple hours a week. My biggest deterrent right now is that I'm only about 1/3 of the way through Chapter 26, and it's just not gelling enough for my liking. I'm hoping that after Thanksgiving passes, I'll find that magic and watch the rest of the chapter come together.

In the meantime, I wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

By the way, I hope we'll see that Delta cameo soon in The Clone Wars!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I had been away for Thanksgiving weekend and am still trying to get back into normalcy!

Chapter 26 is still floating about unfinished (due to aforementioned family gathering...LOL). I hope to get it finished in the coming weeks. Stay tuned...

I understand that is watching you, no? The sad truth is, he's using a script that watches people at a rate of one deviant per second. He's probably watching well over 30k people now. The only reason he's doing this is for llamas.

Well, if you have any time and are interested, I'd still like to see your drawn interpretation of Arlesse. I leave the artistic design entirely up to you. My only restrictions: no nudity, no compromising/seductive positions. Keep it PG or G, and I'm happy!

If you have any questions, you know how to reach me.

I would love to do that! I don't do nudity, and as for compromising positions, I only subject my own characters to that xP

This should be fun!

Hi There!

I got on here a couple months ago as a means of looking for alternate/extra ways to stretch my fan fiction. I actually found a number of artists who cross the literature medium, and have been enjoying the experience immensely! I love reading the stories and then seeing the artists' rendition of the characters. I only WISH I was that talented!

I'm pleased to know that you enjoy my fanfictions. It certainly helps encourage the imagination to know that someone likes what I write.

I'll have to take some time to check out your work. I'll be sure to leave my comments.

Thanks again and take care!

Yeah, I made an account a couple weeks ago just to peruse without the popup ads. I want to pull out some of my old art work, dust it off, and scan it in, but I haven't had time yet to dig out my 10-year old portfolio. I had a couple Star Wars things in it and a few general pictures that I was proud of doing back when I took art classes part-time. But, I know I can't ever compete with some of the awesome talent I've seen out here. I get amazed by some of the artwork I've viewed.

I also thought it would be nice to post some of my stories out here, too. It's always good to get exposure and learn better writing techniques. I'm just still trying to navigate the site first.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
