The Age of S'Jet is upon us brothers and sisters, rejoice!
All praise be to the S'jet. Our Lady of Fleet Command has returned.

I can't believe it's finally happening, Norse. All those years spent waiting, trying to keep the faith.
I hope we're well rewarded.

Yep, I was there. I was there for the _three delays_ before the Gearbox panel, waiting.
But I was not disappointed.

Impressed to see you're still doing stuff! I'm trucking along at about one art a year these days

Good good, and congrats
Nah, they haven't made it off of postit notes. Hopefully it'll happen sometime.
Main points are that the engines are also regularly used as weapons, ships are generally built in skyscraper cathedral orientations like The Expanse, no broadsides other than as point defense batteries, massive radiator wings that look awesome, the enemy is always down (and millions of ks away), and smaller ships: 2km tall is plenty big for any ship. Huge megaships like the Phalanx would exist but more as ponderous semi-stations than combat vessels. Reliable artificial gravity would be limited to ancient races like the Eldar, and the Necrons wouldn't care enough to use it anyway. Tau wouldn't have invented it yet, humans would have it on only some of the most ancient vessels, and even then it would be prone to errors and accidental warp incursions if you recite the wrong incantation while turning it on. But obviously warp travel, the astronomicon, and Gellar fields would still be a thing. Ships would generally fly depressurized in combat besides the central command areas on the big ships.
Stage two is to rework air vehicles. Most 40k designs have the aerodynamics of a brick. And of course there's the fact that in 40k, an aircraft is always automatically a spacecraft and vice versa, which makes little sense.
But ground combat in 40k is just fine by me. It's reasonably believable in an old school sense within universe. It's the space stuff that's poorly thought out.
Urgh, excuse the rant!
The issue for me is that within the canon so much makes sense. The warp, psychics, etc. - sure. But it's all the stuff that's wrong without any explanation or in-universe reasoning that bothers me. Like close range naval combat in space. As cool as "SET OUR ORBIT PERIGEE LOWER, I WANT TO HIT THEM WITH MY SWORD" is...

Creating seems to be my natural state of being; I can't go for too long without the desire to make something.
What are you up to these days?

Marketing Manager for a tech hardware co, three kids and a wife, and barely draw at all any more. That said I am casually working on more physically realistic versions of 40k spacecraft.
You?

Making it by as some kind of designer, still trying to stabilize a career. Got married at the end of last year! Right now I'm working for a mobile gaming company (Talros recommended me actually) part time as a writer/designer/scripter person. It's only part time though, so I'm still looking for other things. Now and again I'm putting out other projects... wondering if I have some form of ADHD for how often I'm switching.
Good to see you're doing ok. Do you have anywhere you're showing off the 40K ships?

Careers are funny things these days and switching is normal I think.Β
Um, so, suddenly I'm more excited about HW than 40k ships. Who knew. Designing megalith based maps. I don't think they were thinking near epic enough even with the 2001 concept video. They need to go bigger. Moving to dyson sphere scale stuff solves many of the issues they were having with liths by simplifying them mostly. I'll post up some renders soon.
Got off discord after a week of engagement. That place is a real time sink I can't afford, and some (at least one) of the folks are toxic.

Discord is funny because it's the hottest Homeworld fan community right now. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I've already participated in all of those old arguments us Homeworld fans hashed out way back in the day. It's interesting.
I wouldn't expect derelicts that intact to play in. The fractured dyson sphere of Karos is about the biggest I would have expected. Then again, HW Map's Hadrian's wall is literally a wall of progenitor structures many hundreds of light years in diameter, big enough to fly fleets through. So... *shrug*

Yeah. I'm off it for the same reason I'm off FB and twitter and etc. - the utility is dwarfed by the negatives.
Based on the backgrounds from both games, I tend to think that even a small 'lith will fill many HW sized maps worth of space. Dyson spheres are colossal by nature, so even small fragments will be bigger than most planets.

Okay your robot designs are both wicked and unqiue! A nice mix of more solid geometric shapes and smooth curved metal parts

Hello Friend. I'm looking for artists who want to collaborate in a 3D MMO game that I and some friends are developing and I liked some of your works. Would you be interested in?
