Haha ikr, I came back on DeviantArt to upload photography and few other things I have been doing. 

SO i log-in, and check whats changed and what-not, and I see you amongst few others on my friends list. So as I was going through them, trying to remember who and what, I check your profile and that lit the proverbial lightbulb in my head and i went "OH CLARISSA!" ha! Like wow, who would have thought, after 11+ years huh

I'm glad you're doing well! I've been ok, it's definitely been crazy and a lot has happened over the years lol. Yeah, I do drawing full time for a living now so it's been awesome!

I have mostly been well, although I'm about to take a brief hiatus from most social media (except for my Facebook account, since our class assignments are  posted on a group there.) I have less than two months left before I begin my internship, but the past weeks of medical schooling have put me on edge.

Baie dankie! I'm close to halfway done with junior internship, and since I'm in surgery (the specialisation that appeals to me most at the moment,) I'm enjoying my time even if I'm exhausted most days.

Yes, I am! To be honest I'm not very happy here. It's very expensive and the construction quality of apartments are terrible (whilst being overpriced). It's also really terrible with imports and since my tablet has broken, it's a huge problem for me to try to replace it now... Otherwise it is nice - the cities are beautiful, and they have good laws regarding pets and the protection of them which I like. I've completed my residency application so I just need to wait 5 years to get my passport now. c:

I'm really sorry (for both the late reply, and to hear about your difficulties there.) I'm in South Africa right now for training (funnily enough) and I like it quite a bit here. The standard of living here in the Western Cape is higher than what I'm used to (services and the like) but food and safety (as in, many places being unsafe) is just about the same as my home country. Living costs is probably going to be another problem for me, though the university I'm in has some relatively affordable accommodation. The biggest downside for me is how much it costs to have anything shipped here (I miss the shipping costs and time from Japan to my country, for example) and possibly not earning anything as a registrar because I'm not South African.

I do hope the residency application goes smoothly, though!

Ohhh good luck!! Are you in Cape Town? I was born and raised in the Western Cape so there's something nice about hearing that you're staying there atm!! Yes, the cost of things in the Western Cape is generally higher compared to somewhere like the Eastern Cape. Shipping times to SA are indeed rough... but luckily you can find access to a lot of things already in South Africa. Good luck with everything!

Yes, I am! I did go to Worcester too, since my boyfriend, GoingNads is from there, and I enjoyed it a lot. Even between CPT and Worcester, there's a difference in the standard of living. But almost everything I can think of buying is available here (at comparable prices to my country) so I don't really have much of a problem, haha.

The culture, oh gosh yes, the culture. I didn't want to leave because of that. That and the great medical training makes me want to go back as soon as I can. and also my boyfriend but that's a given. ;_;

It's sad that I come from a country where the police think it's okay to shoot 3-year old girls because "shit happens" (actual quote from a senator) and "she was a human shield", so I come from a position where crime is somewhat "normalised", but I do agree that it could be quite bad. On my last day in Worcester, a store clerk got shot. Just 10 minutes away from the hospital where I was training, cars were being burned. 

As for my country, some of the people I worked with in SA even KNEW about my country's reputation for extra-judicial killing. ;;;
