Always enjoyed paleoart, though, don't have much to contribute except some loose sketches. As an artist I'd like to check out the work if that's ok?

Thanks!

Our brand-new group has a certain affinity with your group scope. Ofc there is a lot of filtering and selection going on like there should be on any group. We kindly ask to affiliate with you.

It's more that the obliviousness of the average DA denizen makes managing this group a chore and I have been overly busy elsewhere .

I can't say that I'm either surprised or terribly impressed that going over the log your join request doesn't comply with the rules. If I'd been more active here, the request would have been declined without comment. Giving a quick look over your gallery, I don't see much of relevance to the group. Still life isn't quite what I'm looking for.

I was wondering since you guys are a group, if you could spread the word:Β  I'm doing a Kickstarter for my dinosaur novel Mark of the Conifer on Sept 1st. You can see more art for it here: www.facebook.com/markoftheconi…
Hope to see you there!

If you read the rules a bit further you'll note that expired requests will be evaluated as well. I appreciate your comprehension for my being otherwise busy elsewhere.

I'd say it's better that you contact me directly for that instead of doing it through the group. Let me be clear that this isn't the only thing I'm doing so response times may vary wildly.

GhostInThePines [2012-01-23 05:35:24 +0000 UTC]

I was wondering if there are any decent online sources of information on paleo-botany and/or regional climates from the Mesozoic era... I've been working on my own personal paleoecology project, but I keep running into a bit of a wall when it comes to determining more exact habitat types (e.g. coastlines vs marshes, temperate forest vs sub-tropical/tropical forest, etc...).

Thanks for any feedback given!

Okay, small problem,...I don't really understand the joining rules to the group....do you just use the join request or with the joining note and request, you paste the links, right? Or...or...how does it work?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dracontes In reply to vasix [2011-07-23 01:57:19 +0000 UTC]

As far as I'm aware when you click on the Join button a confirmation dialog box (Request to Join this Group) appears so you can select the member rank you aspire to. You also have there a comment entry where you can leave the requested links.

I hope that was clear enough Do say so if things are not as I described them so I can fix them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vasix In reply to dracontes [2011-07-23 02:59:11 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean by....leave the links?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dracontes In reply to vasix [2011-07-23 13:53:26 +0000 UTC]

Leave them on the comment entry by copying the pertinent links (I think most browsers display the "copy link/URL" option when you right click on a link) and pasting them on said comment entry.

I'll have to ask for your patience on this one: I'm short on time 'till the end of July due to work so I hope you don't mind waiting a week for my feedback.

Word of advice to moderators. If an application expires, you don't have to tell the person you would have said no anyway. That is a major put off and only accomplishes the sense that you need to feel self righteous or somehow better than the person you would have rejected from the group.

The critique of the paleoart in the person's gallery that you would have rejected is still a good idea. Maybe emphasise the critique and then tell them to heed these improvements and try at a later date.

I would like to suggest a dinosaur skeleton sculptor by name of - I am not an expert on skeletal morphology, but the recreations this artist completes seem to be very faithful to the true natural designs. Level of craftsmanship and technique are honorable as well. I am not a member here myself, but I thought that this artist was one that could benefit the group for having their work shown here. Thanks very much and take care!

I'm sorry if there is an answer for the question that I'm going to ask, but what the procedure for accepting members from the old club? Is it enough to click on "Join Our Group" or I should pick up again 2 or 3 of my deviations that represent my work the best and send them to the moderators as it was before? Thanks in advance for the answer.

Sorry about the very late answer

Any of those ways is contemplated in the rules though I'm planing to invite back in all the old members who haven't joined of their own accord. That is after I clean up the joining requests I have pending
