OMG! I LOVE YOUR AVATAR! Had me crack. ing. up.

You figure out why. I think this is a club I would like to join...I don't write enough metrical poetry as it is...and Robert Frost did say he despised anything in free verse.
Hmmm. Anyway, will send a note. Latah.

Thanks for adding me to your friends list. Haven't added anything new for a while, but that will change shortly. I am experimenting with a variety of ancient and modern metrical forms, and am pleased to find this place here on DA.

There are vanishingly few of us who really appreciate it. I'd be happy to help however I can.

Best,
Russell from Canada

I'm not going to join because I don't write anymore, but I was going to say I used to have a link to a great site that discussed meter, but I lost it through the ages and various computer changes. It could be linked somewhre through pf though, and if I find it I'll get back to you. Also, my friend ~atacuivel (though she isn't on da anymore) may have written up something very good about meter many years back. Good luck with this.

I've always thought so.

You don't happen to write it... do you?

yeah but I am in too many clubs as it is; this would take more effort than I'm willing to put out, unfortunately.

Is there any particular significance to the fact that our "personal quote" is in iambic pentameter?

PenWieldingPoets In reply to Robsonnet [2005-09-14 15:05:55 +0000 UTC]

The significance lies in the fact that it is in a meter.
