# About me

Update: For my friends here who haven't seen much of me lately, I want to let you all know that I decided to update my profile to match what is going on with me lately. While I love photography, and it is still an important part of my life, I have recently returned to my first love of aviation. It's a long story, but let's say it has been my passion since I was 3 years old. I have been photographing all that I have been doing in the aviation community, and I'll post some work here as I have time to process the photo and video stuff I'm collecting.

I am a hobbyist photographer that got started in photography when I became fascinated with my dad's brand new Nikon F2 when I was around 8 years old. I furthered the passion in Jr. High School where my art classroom included a darkroom and access to an Ashi Pentax K1000. I have one, by the way, and it is still functional! 35mm ruled the day back then. Later, I did a lot of high school yearbook and varsity sports photo work, as well as some creative/effect work both behind the camera and in the darkroom. Sadly, I lost most of my artwork along with my interest in photography when I entered the aviation industry and only in the last few years regained the passion for it.

Now, I dabble in several photographic media. The camera I most enjoy working with is a Tachihara 4x5 large format cherry wood field camera for landscape photos. Film photography is difficult now with the wholesale collapse of the photographic film industry, but I am hopeful there will be enough photographers dedicated to this medium that it will survive the on-slot of the digital giants. I did a lot of work with a Nikon D7000 DSLR and now use a Nikon D810 for most of my work, but I also shoot IR with an IR converted Nikon D70. All of the IR images posted here are from that camera.

The future holds promise to study my current genres of landscape and architecture photography, and my new desire to photograph the life and action of this great world of aviation.
