Hey 'Nom, how's things? It's me again, that random GTS+'er who stops by your page every once in a blue moon. :L I was just wondering...what kind of tips could you give to an amateur scratch spriter? I ask because I'm thinking of spriting like hella-crazy. But my latest piece is an unholy mess. >< It's in my gallery if you want to see it.

Hiya~!

The piece in your gallery is far from bad! It's very good actually, considering scratch spriting is something you hadn't tried before. Sure, there's always room for improvement (I could point out, like... a million things in my own work, too!). Some more shading would be good, I guess. Try adding in some lighter colors! For example, some lighter red to lift the sprite up even further! Make sure you choose one 'lightsource' (for example, upper left), and shade everything according to that light source.

Erhmm... Hope that helped, somewhat. But seriously, that's a SUPER GOOD sprite.

I'd love to see what's next on your list!

Alrighty, thanks for the advice! I was more concerned about getting the sprite to actually resemble the pic I was looking at so yeah, colouring was secondary.

Well here's my next WIP, and I'd like to think that my colouring has vastly improved. xD
