omg thank you so much! but omg don't feel bad at all I have so much to learn and I'm sure if you keep practising etc you'll be so great! I go to a weekly art class and it really helps me with my patience and technique if you don't already maybe you could join one? they're actually really fun! (haha btw is that your cat you take all the photos of because shes super cute!)

wow your gallery is so amazing!! Your portraits look so realistic and like the people themselves =) (Smile)

Do you ever blend when you colour? It looks like you don't, but what technique do you use to make the skin look so..skin like?

I have a pack of colour pencils and im thinking of trying out some portraits with them, how many colours do you think I will need?

Thanks. I do blend the colours a little but I rarely use a colourless blender. I've tried a number of makes of pencil but I find the Faber Castell Polychromos to work best for me (Prismacolor come close but are more waxy and are hard to get in Ireland).

There are four Faber Castell Polychromos pencils I use most for skin tones -

Light Flesh 9201-132

Dark Flesh 9201-150

Medium Flesh 9201-131

Ivory 9201-103

Most of the effects I use are down to using different pressure on the pencils.

Polychromos can be a little on the expensive side but to start out faber castell eco pencils or colour classic are relatively cheap, cheaper again on ebay. Experimenting with colour pencils is key.

From looking at the work in your gallery and from your age I would say you are pretty advanced with your work. You will have no issue working with them. Best of luck :) (Smile)
