Congradulations on completing your PMD: It's A Hard Life comic! it was epic! I loved every moment of it!
When I 1st started a few years back, I didn't even know what a nuzlocke was, but now that I do, it makes the story all the more emotional and entertaining.
I loved seeing the art evolve and all the characters were so well written and the story!
Thank you for continuing and finishing this series through it all, we really appreciate it ^^

Hiya, I've added all of your Legend of Zelda temples to favourite! Because I just love it and your drawing Jill's very impressive! I've played Ocarina of Time and still in Shadow Temple.... anyway, great work on these!

Hi! I just finished reading It's a Hard Life up until the most recent page. I love your work! It's emotional, has great character development, an interesting art style, and so much more. I ESPECIALLY loved chapter 11. That was intense. Keep it up!

So it was easy to spot you here, after all.
I'm surprised you don't have Queen amongst your favourite bands, given that - as far as I can tell - every chapter in your nuzlocke is titled after one of their songs!

Yeah, well. I haven't updated that list in a looooong time. And at first I didn't care aaaall that much about Queen, just throught their song-titles were very fitting for chapter-titles. xP Nowdays I love Queen though! Just add another band that I will never be able to see live!

That sounds like me googling up the most unimaginable things to make obscure references in names even if I don't care for them. I noticed I actually name my nuzlocke mons after Disney characters and other movie characters more often than I care to remember. Also cartoons. Got to love the cartoons.
I've only ever seen REM live when I was really young (12), but I don't regret not seeing other bands really... although I probably don't count, not being as much into music as a ton of other people around me! Never really understood the music craze, even though music is nice to listen to.
Oh, right, just out of curiosity, what pronoun(s) do you go by? I know it's an odd question, but I don't want to mistakenly associate you (as an artist and a person) to your character Robin (who is female as far as I can tell) unless I know for a fact that it's what you want your readers to do.

Qlockwork In reply to heavenriver [2014-04-28 18:34:34 +0000 UTC]
Nononoo, it's not an odd question! It's not often people ask me, but it's very nice when they do! :') Anything gender-neutral (like 'they') is nice, since I'm not actually sure of where I stand and it's still big issue for me. What about you?
Oh, REM! Not a favourite band but still ok. 'Shiny, Happy People' always makes me wanna cry though. Nah, everyone can't be super-duper into music, but for me it's almost as important as art. On the other hand, I reaaally don't watch many cartoons (unlike everyone around me), even though they're nice. So that would make us even. xP
(and obscure references are the best for the mons! I always go for ancient gods or deties - prefereably impossible to pronounce)

heavenriver In reply to Qlockwork [2014-04-29 07:46:01 +0000 UTC]
Well, I generally ask about pronoun preferences to anyone who doesn't have either "male" or "female" in their Internet profiles, and you put nothing in yours (I checked both the nuzforums and dA), so yeah. I figured asking wouldn't hurt Ooh and that is cool! You are in good company, I'm in your same situation... well, more or less. I go by "they" (although I have no problem with other neutral pronouns, either) and I am largely gender-neutral. The problem is that I've spent most of my life feeling like I was in the wrong body, and only a little tiny bit - years ago - feeling comfortable with it, and the dysphoria kicks in bouts of variable strength and unpredictable length to this day. Going neutral is really the only way I can't go wrong
I think music IS an art, just not my preferred kind of art. Besides, when it comes to art I have odd tastes. When I was in middle school I thought I didn't understand art because all we studied was boringly realistic and figurative. Then I discovered Dalì and it was like a wide open golden portal right before my eyes. I've grown to like Surrealism, Minimalism, Abstractism and a ton of other subgenres of art of that kind. (I mean, come on, I make fractals. There's got to be a reason why I picked fractals, right?)
I like cartoons and have watched a good deal of anime in my younger years, but I haven't touched a remote control in ages.
Well, I have a Neptune (Dragalge) and a Ra (Heliolisk) in my Y team (not a nuzlocke)... so there! Not very obscure but I think they're fitting. I name my Pokémon after scientists and mathematicians a lot too. I had a Hilbert and a Maxwell in my FR nuzlocke (Maxwell was, predictably, an Electric type). I think I should save Archimedes for a Water Pokémon.
Oh sorry, I think I have a terrible habit of walling people with text. I've done it two or three times this week and I'm afraid it's becoming a trend. >_>

Ah, I see. That's sorta why I prefer gender-neutral as well. The only time when I did not feel uncomfortable in my body was between 15-17-something, probably because I was too busy trying to 'fit in' (as every other teenager). For the last three-four years I've really been questioning my assigned sex, and I often feel that I would be more happier in another body. But then there's always that voice that keeps telling me I'm just imagining things ... but yeah ... it's good to have gender neutral.
Oh, Dali ... it was actually thanks to one of his paintings that I switched to traditional art over digital. Anyway, I wouldn't say that's odd taste in art. Just depends on the environment, as here in art school everyone's like 'Realism is emotionally sterile, abstract is the way to go' <<< not actually a quote, but still, it's the general opinion. xP I'm quite sure your fractals would be really appreciated here!
(now, even in my manga-days I almost never watched anime! just didn't have the patience to sit through sooo manyyyy episodes, I think NGE was the longest one I ever watched)
Heh, Neptune is the name I give to every single Lapras I ever own. And Archimedes I save for birds (like Wingull and Pidove), but for a whole different reason ....
And it's ok with walls of text. I don't speak much to people over the internet these days, so it's nice for a change.

That's funny, when I was a teen fitting in was the last of my worries. I was actually worried about standing out because I didn't like what the other teens were doing. Granted, that's also partly due to a few other oddities I later discovered about myself... but I get what you mean, and I wish you luck finding yourself I'm probably going to see a gender psych when I live on my own and see if it helps me figure things out properly. I'm not a fan of psychs in general - only one I've ever seen was the most incompetent person on the planet - but who knows, for gender issues it might just work.
Uh well, here in Italy classic figurative is pretty much the preferred style. I suppose it's because of the artistic history of the country, though. Most people I've met say that their favourite art style is either Impressionism or something along those lines, or older. I'm pretty happy with my niche instead, I feel most comfortable doing abstract things and seeing other people make them too. (That being said, if I become good enough at digital art, I might just practice with figurative as well!)
I didn't like NGE, contrary to what most people say about it being a great anime. The reason why I watched so much was that it was popular and I wanted to know why it was. I feel ignorant if I don't know what a popular thing is about, and feeling ignorant is probably the worst for me. I don't like not knowing things. This is basically why I started listening to music, too.
What's your reason for naming birds Archimedes? Are you referring to the Disney character? I think Xatu is most fitting, since it's a brainy bird
Well, if you don't speak much to people over the web, it probably means you have enough of a social life to disregard it, which is good! I actually prefer web interactions even with my IRL friends, sometimes; it's nice to pack a group and see each other every now and then (yesterday we all had a picnic and a great time at a local park, and it was a beautiful day too), but as an introvert, I often need my own space and my batteries need recharging too.

Qlockwork In reply to heavenriver [2014-05-05 21:56:21 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I meant to say that. That I was worried about not fitting in. xD Went so-so because, well, I never really liked any of the stuff I thought I had to do to be accepted as 'cool'. Luckily that phase faded.
Seeing a gender psych may be a good idea. I'm actually waiting to see one right now, but the queue is so looong and I've not hearda word in months. <.< Still. I have nothing against psychatrists and curators and such, seen both good and bad ones. It's really discouraging if you happen to get one you dislike and it just doesn't work but don't let one bad experience scare you!
And yeaaah, that makes sense. Like renaissance art and such? Impressionism is a very common favourite movement I think. It's easy to take in as it's mostly just about pretty light and landscapes. I don't think I have any particular favourite art movement. Apart from just 'painting'. But there's good stuff everywhere so how can one decide? I really like your niche, it's best to do what you enjoy, but if you decide to practice figurative, go for it. Maybe you coul, somehow, combine fractal art with figurative? xD
Well, I wouldn't say NGE is all that amazing either. I watched for pretty much the same reason as you (and because, well, curious, I liked the last two episodes though, they were weird and cool). But really, as with most stuff that is really hyped, I ended up feeling 'meh' about it. Which is why I sorta stopped checking out hyped things. xP Guess it's the hipster-blood again ...
There's a Disney character named Archimedes? I'm sorta reffering to a pidgeon from a video-game, though the pidgeon is most likely named after THE Archimedes, as its owner is a doktor(ish). It does fit a Xatu though. Very sophisticated bird.
xD I'm afraid my IRL social life leaves some to be desired as well. My circle of friends is reallt tiny, and if I didn't actually live with one of them I would probably go through days on days without talking to anyone (except when buying coffee maybe). But I know about the charging the batteries though! I need that too, but I think I often charge them for too long.
(I also realise I use the 'xD'-face a lot, I hope you don't mind)

Yeah, me neither, except I was too selfish to fit in - I actually wanted other people to be like me, instead of wanting to be like the others. xD
You know what's funny about that? That when Pokémon went mainstream I saw them on a classmate's magazine and there was stuff like... Gengar, Dugtrio, Exeggutor and Electrode, and my gut reaction was, "Hey. What is this shit. I'm never playing this game, I can't believe so many people go crazy over that." Except that, on the same day or a few days later, my father came back with Pokémon Blue and he was all like "Hey, I got you this game, try it." I instantly made the association with the creepy creatures I saw (...I've changed my mind about the poor mons later, but hey, I was a little kid back then) and for some reason my brain still didn't go "WHAT NO" and it went like "Oh hey let's try this" instead. That's basically how I got into Pokémon. Talk about second guessing yourself lol.
Wow that sucks ._. waiting months to see a psych I mean. Is it really that bad in the UK? I have nothing against psychs in general, I'm just not a fan. I'd be willing to see one for gender purposes only because I feel it's the one thing that a psych could help me with since I'm not 100% sure how I feel, myself. And the first experience was actually kinda hilarious, although in retrospect, it makes me facepalm.
Yup! Renaissance is one big example of classic figurative art that's popular over here. I don't know what's so good about Impressionism... I mean, yes, it's pretty, but I don't see much beyond the pretty, and I like seeing things that stimulate my mind in some fashion. That's part of why I liked Dali's works. It's actually possible to combine fractals with figurative art, just browse "fractal flower" on dA and you'll see what I mean but I like abstract fractals best. I don't do well at figurative fractals. I'm a bit clean cut at that - if I do figurative, I'd rather do a full-blown figurative rather than an odd hybrid, and likewise for abstract.
Oops, I apologise. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyro_Gea… <--- This is the character I was referring to. In the Italian version, he's called "Archimedes Pythagorean" (Pythagorean being his last name). I supposed it was the same for the English version, but it's not. Duh. I also found out there IS one Archimedes Disney character who happens to be a bird! ---> disney.wikia.com/wiki/Archimed… From a pretty amazing classic, to boot.
Living with a friend ought to be pretty awesome. I'm still at my parents' due to being a student (hopefully not for too long still ) and not having a stable income. It's amazing it can work out well for some people; my best friend is a person I cherish, undoubtedly, but if I had to live with him he'd drive me insane pretty quick. He's messy and leaves a lot of things scattered around on the floor, both of which are traits I hate.
Nope, don't mind the smilies one bit. I like text smilies emoticons, well, it depends. dA emoticons are nice and cute, but the IM emoticons are just fugly. I disabled them on Skype... except that disabling them means YOU don't see them, but if you type a text smilie to a person who hasn't disabled them and that text smilie translates into an emoticon, your conversation partner will still see the emoticon, which sucks.
Oh, right, speaking of which. Are you comfortable with the dA messaging system thing? Because I just remembered it's not everyone's favourite. If you prefer, we can move to Notes. Or PMs on the nuzforms. Or whatever else. I don't mind really.

I think, at least for me, my favourite thing about Impressionism is the way they painted the light. It's mostly because I like painting it myself, like what does different light do to different colours? How does it change the enviroment, feel and shadows? But yes, that's just a fancy way of saying I like it because of the pretty. xP My favourite type of work though, is the ones that touch me on a more emotional level. I can totally see why you like surrealism though, it's not my favourite anymore, but it's still interesting.
Ah, I did look up fractal flower. Very nice stuff (but I will be biased towards flowers!). But hey, like I said. Do what feels best for you. The fun is the msot important part with art anyway. c:

Doesn't sound selfish too me. I mean, the only reason people strive to 'be like others' is to be liked and avoid being shunned. I think.
Oh, Pokémon Blue was my first one too. Though in my case it was I who made forced my dad to buy it for me because whoaaaa, pokémon was the best (not mush has changed since then ...)!
Yeah, still haven't heard a thing. Sometimes I wonder if the doctor even did contact the psych but then again my curator said it was normal to have to wait for ages. I dunno if it's any different in other countries. :c
Aaah, that makes sense. Gyro Gearlose, wtf? xD I had no idea he was called that in English. I've realised that the Donald Duck characters have completly different names everywhere in the world. Hmm, that's from Bambi right? I haven't seen that in so many years! But I remember the owl. He was grumpy and funny. xP
Yes, like you said, living with a friend can be nice but it's gotta be the right one! Sadly I'm actually in a big student accomidation full of people I don't know and they do NOT clean up their dishes. But I'll be out soon, to live with just one friend, who I know is clean, so hopefully it will be nice.
And good! Seems like lots of peopel dislike smilies and find them immature (or is it just my imagination?), but I like them. xP True though, DA has some really nice smilies compared to most every other place ('' is a bit weird though). Skype is horried yes. And facebook aaargh ...
Oh, I don't really mind either. Honestly, even when I had a bunch of net-buddies I mostly talked to them through DA-comments. xP I easily forget notes though, like, I see them, read them, think 'I'll reply in a moment', and then forget about it. :I But if it's in the comment section I'll see it and be reminded more often. If you don't mind that is.
(still, I am sorry I'm so slow at replies, it's probably the reason I don't speak much to people over the net these days).

Haha, well, there's got to be some prettiness in art, otherwise what is there to appreciate? Content can be pretty too, in an abstract, non-visual way, but it's still beauty we're talking about - just a beauty of a different kind. I reckon Impressionism has brought a breath of fresh air to what was previously a dull repetition of realistic images (really, for the longest time I thought I didn't understand art just because I didn't really like anything before Post-Impressionism and I didn't know Post-Impressionism was a thing), though. Every artistic movement has its pros and cons, no matter what traits the viewer (watcher?) appreciates more. Surrealism is one of my favourites, but I can appreciate many kinds of abstract art and - perhaps especially - conceptual art. E.g. I really like Mondriaan.
Lol, I know right? Usually it's kids nagging parents for new games. But the thing is, I was never into games. I haven't even gotten into anything besides Pokémon in my whole life despite having tried a ton of classics. Pokémon isn't a game to me, it's more of a way of life. In fact, a lot of good things that happened to me happened because of Pokémon. Just to mention some: learning English, meeting my current best friend, meeting my partner (we split up later but it was still good stuff), wanting to learn how to draw and actually practicing it... and such. And I got into fractal art thanks to my ex, so I could say fractals are also part of what I indirectly discovered through Pokémon.
Actually, no, that Archimedes owl is from The Sword in the Stone. It was Merlin's companion pet of sorts if I recall. That was a really cute movie, much like a ton of other Disney classics. I miss the good old Disney classics and the beautifully hand-drawn things they made. Even though I appreciate modern computer graphics a lot, they just changed Disney in such a way I don't recognise it anymore. :c
Mmmm well, I think your impression of smilies is somewhat right, although I personally get different vibes from different people. It also depends on what smilies they use, and how. Someone who keeps typing "-_-", "" and ">_>" will likely not strike me as a pleasant person to have conversation with. Someone who types "XD" with a ton of D's at the end will likely result unpleasant for different reasons, too. But if tastefully done, smilies can add to a conversation (and they help me tell how serious the other person is, because I suck at telling sarcasm, apparently).
And lol you don't have to be so apologetic about (not) being slow. I have some penpalships with people who reply about once or twice a month, and some others who could reply several times a day if I actually kept their pace (I don't). So whatever pace is fine with you is also fine by me. And you make a good point of dA messages being useful for not forgetting about replies!
This might be a bit of an odd request, but do you happen to have pictures of your Pokémon games cartridges? Since I don't have many English games at all (curse living in Italy), I've been trying to get them off eBay but all I can find right now is fakes. I have a few sources to tell apart fake USA cartridges from genuine USA ones, but I'm still missing the pics of the European games. Any pre-3DS game would do

Qlockwork In reply to heavenriver [2014-05-23 18:23:56 +0000 UTC]
First of all, no problem at all! I didn't even know people were trying to sell fakes on Ebay. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Anyway, I took a picture from every Gen except three (never owned FR/LG, lent out my Sapphire and my Emerald copy seems to have disappeared). I put it in my scraps: qlockwork.deviantart.com/art/C… ... It's a bit hard to see, but on the back of the Blue cartridge it says: 'Made in Japan' and beneath it 'Pat. Pend'. Silver/Gold cartridges look just like R/B/Y, it was just Crystal that stood out. On the back it says: (Nintendo), Model No. CGB-002, Pat.Pend, Made in Japan. Dunno if all of it is relevant, but whatever.
Ah, that's good. I'm always worried that people find late replies annoying, like the discussion doesn't matter anymore. And yes, too many smilies can be a bit ... uncomfortable (but I try to remember that the 'xDDDDDDDD-phase is well, a phase) ... but if smilies are needed for anything it's to show sarcasm. I mean, when there's no voice to imply it, then how will you tell?? Though, sometimes I find that smilies can mean different things to different people. I kept using '<3' as I thought it was a pleasantly proud smile, and it took years before I relised everyone else think it's a heart. Ups!
Oh, Sword in the Stone. I could have relised that if I only had kept on reading the article (ups again!). And I actually saw it not too long ago! It's a pretty strange film really. Enjoyable and cute. But there wasn't much of a story or anything going on. Nevertheless, I do like the diseny style from that time. Sketchy and cool backgrounds. Like you say, compuer graphics are cool and all but ... I get you totally. Like. When disney first started to make digitaly animated films, I didn't even realise they were disney-films! (I thought they had a huge gap of no films at all until Princess and the Frog appeared) And .. so much of the computer graphics makes the films look .. so much alike.
Yes, there is this stamp her eon DA that says 'Pokémon: Not just a game', and I think we're many who can agree on that. I might have been into many different things, but pokémon is constant. I had little to no IRL friends when I was a child, but I found so many other kids on pokémon-websites. Many of us drew silly things on oekakis together, and even today I'm still following their work. And it certainly helped me with my english too!
As for art, yes you're right. There's good stuff in every movement. And hey, understanding and liking art is not the same thing. Sometimes I find there's not much to understand anyway.

Oh, you'd be even more surprised to see how many fakes linger in the most unlikely places of the web. For example, since I wasn't finding much on eBay, I thought of going on Amazon UK (because the American one has terrifying shipping costs when the retailer DOES ship to Italy, which is not very often). I saw fakes even THERE. I think there was a seller with I don't even remember what percentage of positive ratings (it was high) with photos of cartridges for sale which looked way too much like bootlegs to be true. Worst part of it is, it doesn't mean the prices are lower. I cringe inside every time I see people bid on or buy fake cartridges, and all the more I wish I could do something about it... but even though I know they're fake, how can I prove it? :/
Your pictures have been very helpful, by the way! The writings on the front and back are the exact same, so what is relevant isn't what's written on the cartridges, but rather *how* it's written. That's one of the reasons why I needed originals for comparison bootlegs usually have thinner (or more rarely, thicker) writings, may or may not have spaces in between words where the originals don't, and sometimes use different fonts. The position of all the markings and extras is also important; some bootlegs switch them around (e.g. they might have the Nintendo logo which is the same as the original, but misplaced). These were all things I knew in abstract, though, and only now I can actually verify for myself where the differences lie. So, thank you again! By the way, I have a LeafGreen cartridge now. I probably haven't mentioned this here just yet, but there's one thing I really love about your nuzlocke - it embodies the spirit of nuzlocking better than any other nuzlocke I've seen (not joking). I don't care for detractors of the "darker and edgier" thing, I like it. Keep it up!
Naaa, late replies are actually some sort of constant for me. They also help me keep up with personal life and whatnot. I'm going to have finals very soon (beginning of June) and be academically stressed throughout the month because I want to get my bachelor's degree asap, so it helps to have something ELSE to think about every now and then, without needing to feel pressured to reply every day. Everything fits!
Haha, funny you should mention that. I thought "<3" was just "lesser than three" for a long time, and therefore meant that whatever was written before it was awesome because 1 and 2 are lesser than 3 and they are probably great numbers for placements and whatnot. That's what I remember of my reasoning, anyway. Talk about convoluted... I blame this on my engineering background! (Not really. I only started engineering three years ago )
I've found that stories about character development are those I enjoy the most, even if they don't really have a plot going on. Maybe that's because it's what I prefer to write or draw about. I'm big on characterisation, and I can overlook a not-so-enticing plot in favour of it. A great plot without good characters, on the other hand, feels like it's lacking something.
Oh right! I never knew the digital movies were Disney until much later, either. When I came to learn that, I figured it was just an experiment of sorts and then they'd go back to their original graphic style. Except they never did. It made me so sad! The digital style is nice and all, but it... doesn't have character? I mean, it's as if it's really impersonal compared to the traditional drawing style. The old Disney movies were all different even in how they were drawn. It added so much to the enjoyment for me.
Me too, I actually made my first few friends on there (elementary/middle school was a bad time for me to make friends). My current best friend is a person I met through Pokémon tournaments, incidentally. We've known each other for like, seven years now? First time was in June 2007, so yeah, looks like it. Not to mention Pokémon has motivated me to set goals for myself, be ambitious, work hard and learn new things, among which English and drawing. I owe a lot to them
Yeah, I know, understanding and liking art are different things. But when I was 13, and everyone else was into artistic things I wasn't into, it made me wonder why I didn't like that kind of art as much as the others did. "Not getting what other people like" is basically the story of my life in so many aspects. xD

wow, I can't belive it's been a whole month. I've not been ignoring this, but just after my finals were over my laptop adapter broke down some three weeks ago. And Speaking of fakes - no, not even amazon is safe, I now realise ... didn't get a new adapter that actually worked until the other day. What is the difference between real and fake games, playwise I mean? Or are they just more prone to break down? Anyway, not much you can do but maybe leave a warning comment that they're fake? Yes, I'm glad you made that thread! If you want more spesific pictures I have a few other versions too.
Haha, oh that's an even better way to read '<3' actually! It's like when I at first saw people write 'XP' and I thought they were refering to the Windows OS of the time ... Confusion was assured. I didn't know you were doing engineering though (or maybe I forgot), that's so cool though! So is this your last year? (I dunno how long BA degrees are in Italy .. or about engineering). Anyway, hope your finals went well. c:
Yes, that is so true though, a plot is only as good as its characters. A great battle in the end of a film is only exciting if we actually care about the characters doing it. And I often feel that the best plot is the one that is driven by the characters and their development, rather than having them being thrown around by some external plotdevice (I realise this might go against what I do in my comic but oh well).
I feel the same way about thie disney films too. Though, I know disney has had different styles through the years, I'm hoping this is just another phase. I'm not going to give up hope for another 2D film in a new more interesting style. Or maybe just trying to do something different with the 3D rather than just generic smooth polygons and big eyes. And if not ... well, there are plenty of less known, but just as good, sometimes better animated films out there. C:
Ah, pokémon tournaments even? I never had any of those close to where I lived. That's so cool though! Anyway, maybe I'm reading to much into it, but I often find small messages and quotes in pokémon games that I feel can be applied to real life ... like, not judging someone if they're weak or strong (many like to talk down on themselves for being 'weak'). And B/W actually is partly what inspired me to go abroad (because of the whole finding out what you want to do theme and all the backpacking NPCs). Maybe it sounds silly. But who cares? (and of course I'm really happy about the upcoming remakes? you know which one you're gonna get?)

Oh dear, that's tough! Three weeks without an adapter, good luck you have a new one now. Don't worry about replies, I know a lot of people have finals at this time of the year (I myself am in the same situation... and I'm about to go crazy over the amount of work to do x_x let's just say my June exam session went a lot worse than expected), if I don't hear back from you in a timely manner I'll just assume you're busy and wait as I said before, no pressure. I have a handful of correspondences with people for whom two replies a month or less is the norm, it doesn't bother me.
The difference between real games and fake games can vary... generally speaking, you don't see much in the playthrough because it works as normal, except that the initial message is strange for the GBA games (it's not the usual "the internal battery has run dry" etc., it says something else about the save). Some fakes use cheaper hardware though, so they MIGHT break more easily. However, there's no guarantee it will happen. You could potentially have a fake for years and be unaware it's fake, as I did with my Platinum version: bought it years ago thinking it was legit, and then found out recently that it's not (thanks to all the research I did about fakes in these last few months). My fake Platinum played like the original and could trade to other Gen IV games just fine, so I never got suspicious. The only thing I haven't tried with it was the Poké Transfer (the one that passes on your 'mons to BW or B2W2, I mean).
Point is, I want the originals for the sake of having them, which is why I don't want fakes. That, and there's always a risk they might stop working, or that they won't save after the E4 (happens a lot to Emerald fakes for example).
Thanks for the offer of more pictures, although I don't think it's needed right now I eventually bought quite a lot of games (yay!) so I might as well add my own pictures to that thread! Incidentally, I got European versions of all Gen III games (minus Fire Red, which is on its way to my home though), and a mix of European and American for the others. I don't have all the games yet, but around 2/3 of them, I think, which is a pretty nice amount.
Haha you totally got me with the XP thing, I thought the same. I still do, kind of. The opposite happened with Pokémon XD instead - couldn't bring myself to read that without thinking it was Pokémon some-sort-of-emoticon!
Maybe I didn't mention I was going to engineering, it's not something I always talk about since when I do it's mostly academic rambles which I figure is not very interesting to hear. BA degrees last three years in Italy (most of them), Master's last two. I'm in my last Bachelor's year and I hope to graduate soon, except I failed one of the June exams and another I don't know the result of, but whenever you fail something over here, you have to retake it until you pass it, because you can't graduate until you've finished all your exams. The one I failed was electronics, which is super annoying considering it's a subject I'll probably never need in my life at the level we studied it in uni (circuitry, amplifiers, transistors... as if I'm ever going to build a transistor).
What do you do? Are you still in education or looking for a job/working? I assume you are studying or have studied art at some point, right? I'm sorry if I've asked this already, I forget sometimes.
I don't think your comic is all about external plot devices, actually. Sure, not much of what happens depends on Robin, but she's just a kid who's being thrown around by fate and tries her best to not lose her way. There's difference between a character who's not in control of what happens and a character who's just a puppet to a deus ex machina, if you know what I mean. The latter is NOT what makes for a good plot; the former can turn out to be good instead, depending on how it's handled (and I think it's handled pretty well in your comic, for what it's worth).
You're very right about the less known films though! Until not long ago, I thought all animated movies were Disney. Turns out not so! Some of my favourites, in fact, aren't made in Disney. Have you ever watched The Magic Sword (Quest for Camelot)? Alongside The Treasure Planet (which IS Disney made though) it's my favourite animation movie ever. Oh, and the Japanese folk do quite well at animation movies sometimes, although it's a style an Occidental person might not like.
Well, I do live in Rome, so that's probably why I saw some cool Pokémon stuff happen *shrug* the smaller cities had nothing to offer over here, either, only some of the bigger ones. I don't think you're reading too much into Pokémon, I think there's actually a lot in them that could offer beautiful life lessons. A prime example is the first movie, especially the 15-minute cut scene with young Mewtwo and Amber (if you've never watched it, you definitely should... prepare your tissues though, it's really, REALLY sad). The quote you're referring to comes from Karen, arguably one of my favourite E4 members of all time. (Am I the only one bothered by Cynthia only being popular because she has big tits? I see so much Cynthia praise and basically none for the E4 characters that, you know, ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. Other than scurrying around in their region...)
Ooh nice! Abroad where? Or do you mean you went to England and you're actually from somewhere else in the world? That's pretty brave! I want to move out too, mostly because Italy doesn't offer much of a future to anyone, and I hate the politics of this country (makes me want to puke every time I hear the news on TV really).
I'm gonna get Alpha Sapphire first, but if I have enough money I'm getting Omega Ruby also, eventually. I do have another day's worth of work in July, which basically pays for one of the games, so hopefully I can rack up enough money for the other as well I just finished a communitylocke in Sapphire which was organised for the upcoming remakes and it was my first deathless run, not to mention I found a shiny in it after literally 10 years of never finding any at random (barring PokéRadar and Masuda method)! What are you getting?
