Hmm, well I've been seriously doing this for about a month now and it's a slow income of watchers but I don't have a lot in my gallery and I have a lot of improvements that I personally want to keep striving for so I don't get discouraged about it. I would really love it to do this at least part time... that's the dream anyways! ^^

hhmmm yeah you never really stop improving or wanting to DEviantart really isnt the place to be doing it though, are you also offering your work in other places and advertising yourself? cause thats half the battle.

you dont need alot of work you just need a strong portfolio to send everywhere you possibly can, make sure you make it geard towards what you want to do but make it versatile too,  is there other subjects or types of styles and mediums you enjoy working with? add those into the portfolio

sorry im probably just giving unwanted advice, i've typed up like, 30 paragraph comments to people and i just get told im a selfish jerk giving unwanted information that thinks he knows everything XD, i dont mean to come off that way.

No I don't think your being a jerk or anything! I appreciate you giving me your time to even talk to me! I do advertise my art on other sites.. You can find me on Instagram, Tumblr, and Facebook @ RaraHimeChan.
I'm also on two other art sites, Weasyl, and Furafinity.
And I also offer Society6 which is where people can buy my artwork on t shirts, mugs, hoodies, clocks... Ect...

you should be going to some other sites too like conceptart.org thats where all the professional artists hangout so if you wanna get noticed by a company or art director thats a good place, another great option is if you wanna try using a print on demand site like zazzle, i wouldent recommend putting your best work up there but its another option, i heard good things from fiverr too and other freelance websites but those are more like bonuses.


thats good your out there, but whats even more impotant then all of these is printing out a physical portfolio and sowing it around town, if you do that you will need to broaden your expertise alot though however once you get started you can be more choosey about the work you do, go talking to cafes and resturaunts and little stores ect are good places, and pet stores they might love art like that but you gotta go look, thats how most people get started and known more then anything.

so you want to be a manga artist yeah? fake it till you make it, have you ever thought about uploading a daily or weekly story page? or maybe a little joke with your characters or something? that would be even better, releasing something every day = great way

sorry imma shut up now XDD what do i know i havent even done nothin' and im a noob artist XD but seriously, your works great i think it'd be worth thinking about some more serious ways of doing it while your improving your art.

i hope your doing lots of drawing from life cause thats where all these styles come from, you can always exagerate proportions and draw in a style if you know fine arts, but you cant learn 1 style and just draw anything

Thanks for the advice, I'll check out those sites you mentioned ^^.
I was thinking about doing a comic strip because I really love personally doing those but it is to hard for me currently to post more work because I work over 50 hrs each week. (Blah!!!)
This will be changing soon so I can have more time with art and maybe trying to do it as a part time job.

I pretty much have been drawing since a young kid... I don't remember a time when I wasn't drawing, as a school girl I mostly did graphite pencil shaded realistic art.
After Highschool I started working and got my own place and sorta got swept up in life... I didn't really see my art going anywhere, I was average at drawing anime (which was my favorite thing to draw) so I just kinda silently quit it.
I ended up meeting a girl who is a fellow co worker who got me back into it. She is on Furaffinity: www.furaffinity.net/user/perfo…  (Warning! She draws furry porn so if that bothers you don't check her out!)

So I built myself a computer and just through everything I had into it and I'm pretty pleased with how things are going right now, I hope my art work resonates well with others and I hope to keep getting better!

thats quite a few hours, what kinda job you working? lol im pathetic hillbilly, still dont got a job, though i cant really tbh, costs more in gas to drive there everyday then i'd get payd, and i have no liscense yet to drive, even though i have my own vehicle lol.

comic strip would be cool, i'd get yourself set up with art before you relied on it at all. unless you wanna work 60 hours a week, suppose it will be fun for you though since it's art.

i drew a little bit as a kid, i was more into taking things apart and building stuff, thats kinda why im thinking about a different route where i can still use my accumulated drawing skills. wood working might be a great job for me but i just dont know. it's pretty cool you drew that long, life sucks..i cant wait....not... XD

thats cool you got back into it, and thank you for the warning, though im not really a prude i dont appreciate that stuff simply because i want to save whatever i can for my future wife, im really passionate about that,  minor to moderate stuff is okay i suppose. so it depends how bad her stuff is no im not religious either, just a man that wants to do more with himself then just with himself, if that makes any sense. i could go on and on about it but i dont want to bore you with my stupid romantic dreams lol.

thats pretty cool, i've always had custom made top of the line computers aswell,  i ushually bought one already custom made and slowly added extra components to it as i went. its epic.

I'm a digital  retoucher, basically I work for a photography business and my job is to use photoshop to retouch their customers.
Working all the time really sucks... I wish I had more time to myself and time to play with my dogs but it pays the bills.
Don't get discouraged though, working sucks so take your time doing things if your able too.

That's cool that you have other drawing hobbies and what not, I also enjoy video games and I'm learning to speak Japanese which are  my other hobbies.
I'm not a religious person either, her stuff is fairly mild... just normal sex stuff.
And when it comes to your partner I think it is good that you know what you want just don't get too worried about that stuff, if it feels right to do something then go for it!

I'm pretty happy with my computer too! It is epic

thats kinda cool, but it sounds like you work alot more then most people. you ever think about finding a different job? lots of good ones out there you never would have thought of if you look

last time i did something that felt *right* i ended up regreating it, and 50% of what i've done thats felt right, has ended up in dissapointment, so i dont really do that anymore, i follow my head, not my feelings. i can follow what feels right after i know it's right.

and i want to have a special relationship, i dont want one like people have today, i think most modern peoples relationships are kinda crappy and i dont want any part of it, i'd rather be alone then live that way. maybe im just to picky, or too unrealistic but, honestly its what i beleive in.

thats good im happy with mine to it can do anything doesent have no fancy touch screen stuff though lol
