I honestly think the advices in that article Is enough to get someone to pro level! Most important things definitely practice!
Here some additional one: draw varied things. Don't keep drawing things you know. On't shy away for things you find hard. Explore different media Ned techniques. Use the Internet as resource.
Most importantly, practice everyday.

I'm doing great. I landed myself a job and am on my way to grad school in a few months. Lillia/Treize and Meg/Seron...good times. I still have an affinity for it, even though it's been years. I even landed on a whole blog full of A&L fanart. My folder for it is huge now haha.
