Hi Guys...

My nickname is Selevan and i am slowly making visual novels for fun.

I've been using Blender for almost a year now, for my scene creation and do some photoshop manipulation, which is kinda fun.

Your comments and constructive crits are very welcome on any image in my gallery. I appreciate the time you take to make these comments.

Hi, I'm curious as a fellow hobbyist artist/VN creator - how is your process with the VNs? Your art certain has a touch of VN style to it +

"Your art certain has a touch of VN style to it" - tnx! glad to hear, really trying to achieve this... although there still is a lot to improve.

"how is your process" - sorry, english not my primary language, so i may get your question incorrectly... are your asking about art creation processes? Or VNs i working on?

If you asking about art creation - then i use 3D scenes as a base (Blender) and apply rendered masks with different tweaks and tricks in Affinity Photo

If you asking about VNs - i have one long-standing project (started to learn art creation solely to complete it by myself) - and several mini-VNs released. Some with quite experimental approaches to story delivery mechanics... may be you, as creator yourself will find this interestingΒ (sorry for shameless adv!). so, if you have spare time and interested to check - there is one experimental VN recently released:
store.steampowered.com/app/112…

It`s free and short, but still lacks of opinions and feedback //

Hi,

I played through "Magistrangers" as I promised, and her eare my thoughts about it:

First of all, the title screen and the UI are very clear and nice. Their color are also solid. The character indicators of the subtitles clarify the dialogue. Personally, I found the boxed dialogues a little tiring on the eyes, though.

Second, the visuals: The art was consistent throughout the story, adding to the immersion (except for the shading of Em's face, which popped up a bit oddly). What I'd suggest (or at least try to do myself) in sense of convenience is to use any drawn scene for at least a few minutes worth of time. Especially at the beginning, a few backgrounds were created solely for a few lines of text.

Finally, the story and dialogue: Honestly, there were two major issues with these, that bothered me quite a bit. The biggest was the amount of filler lines in the dialogue, making the experience sluggish at times. The other was the first scene, basically revealing the plot for the most part in a kind of unrelatable way. As a general rule of thumb, I'd avoid stating the obvious too often (especially if the picture is telling the same thing). However, the twist at the end was interesting. The characters were distinctive enough, and I'm glad to see you've been reusing them in other contexts.

I hope these thoughts will help you make even better VN's in the future!

Thanks a lot for such extensive and helpful answer!!! Will rethink points you mentioned, i understand it`s far from ideal.

It`s really hard to find "fine line" to make fully balanced experience from all aspects... but that what making VNs so interesting task, after all

BTW, If you have VNs to look at and need an separate opinion - feel free to drop a link, i`m always interested in something new to look at

Glad it was helpful! My one and only project is still underway (since forever) but I'd say it's 85% complete. Takes another year or so xD I'll keep you in mind.
