Sadly, PotO is one of those big musicals that I've somehow never seen (I'm a musical fanatic... I've seen all sorts, even obscure ones or ones in other languages—actually, my 2 current faves are in German and Japanese—but somehow I missed out on a few HUGE ones that everyone's seen). That and Le Miz are my two biggest "I need to see this yesterday" musicals.

But actually, in your case, I just did the Watch to remind myself, "Hey! Awesome Person Alert!" I do that sometimes, even if a deviant rarely posts new work.

If the stage plays aren't in the cards, try the recent movies.  I recently saw the 2004 Webber "Phantom of the Opera" DVD for about $5.00 (I think it was eBay or Amazon - don't remember.)  I expect the "Les Mis" movie costs more, since it is more recent, but still a way to see at least one version of the play.

I don't know about "Les Mis" since I've never seen the stage production, but the PotO movie does take some liberties with the play, however, not so much that they totally screwed up the story or anything.  Some people were disappointed with the quality of the singing - Gerard Butler is no Michael Crawford, but he sang in tune and put more emotion into his singing, imho.  I'd say well worth five bucks or so to buy it, even if you only watch it once.  Cheaper than a movie these days.

Hey, sometime, I'd be curious to hear your reasons for hating Frollo and Grell. Well, Frollo I think I understand, actually, even if I don't agree. I've only come across Grell hate once before though, and I must admit I don't understand it at all. But that person was a bit too vehement to make sense... Anyhoo, I actually really like hearing opposing viewpoints, if stated in a calm and logical manner. I'll make you a deal, k? If you want--and you don't have to--you tell me about your opinions on those characters, and as long as you do so in a rational manner, I promise not to get all upset and defensive. Mind you, I may offer an opposing viewpoint of my own (e.g. "Well, I understand why you you don't like _____ about Grell, but I choose to interpret that scene in a different way"), but I will do my very best not to discredit your views or "make you change your mind." IMO, you can't "make" anyone change their mind; you can only offer your own perspectives and experiences, and allow them to draw their own conclusions. You've stated that you respect my opinions; I'll do the same for yours if I can, and if I really, absolutely can't, I'll end the discussion in a civil manner before I say anything too stupid. Fair?

Yeah, I don't like when they irrationally hate characters.

I hate Grell because he's a huge, irrational sadist. He's literally a scary sociopath, and he kills people over little stuff. He's also very annoying, and shameless to a scary level (Especially his horrible R-Shitei song).

No problem at all! Love this char, adore seeing him cosplayed. I know you're not the cosplayer, but to my (admittedly rather inexperienced) eye, your photo itself is quite good as well, in terms of lighting, image clarity, and showing off both cosplays to the fullest extent.
