If I HAD to make a choice from the above, it would probably be Oregon, although I've never been there. I said "Suggestions??": I left California in '93, and miss it daily!!

Consider another part of it, and look at it from the eyes of someone who's never been there. Just a thought...

I've lived her all my life and dont get me wrong I LOVE it completely. But Im just finding it so hard to think about developing a family and owning a home out here. Its so expensive to live out here. Im thinking mostly about money costs I guess. And also I want to see what somewhere else in the US might be like.

Oregon is definitly beautiful. Where did you move to if you dont mind?

Michigan, western suburbs of Detroit area. Wife grew up about a block from where we are now.

You're right about the costs... when I got out of the Navy, we were living in Lemoore, about 30 miles south of Fresno. It's fairly cheap there, comparatively, but there's nothing but cows, corn and cotton. Very hot in the summer, very chilly (but not freezing, much anyway) in the winter with days on end of very dense fog. The good thing is that it's central to many things to do... about 2 hours to Yosemite, to Sequoia, 2.5 hours to Kern River, 2.5 hours to Monterey, 3.5 to San Francisco, maybe 4 hours to Tahoe.

All the nice places in california are rediculously expensive, I grew up down in a town right by san bernardino. It was kind of a little farm town, cute but definitly nothing to write home about. My mom actually grew up in michigan and she liked it except for the winters

We used to have a cabin in Arrowbear, near Running Springs, so would travel through San Berdu to and from there.

Funny about Michigan... Meradragon's family was from here, too.
