We're just starting Java, but I remember a lot of it from last year. We're mostly just learning the basics right now, such as variables.

Nice. All I've gotten to in C++ is that it's an object-based programming language, ahaha. Then again, most modern programming languages are object-based, I think, including Scratch
Also I tried to make a game in a week on Scratch. It's terrible.

No, I'm almost positive that's only used for Scratch and maybe a few others. Object-based programming means that you control the behavior of objects (I think they're called sprites in Scratch) and how they interact with each other, as far as I know.
